Family adventures come in many shapes and sizes. I love planning vacations that are unique to each family. If your family loves the great outdoors and seeing wildlife in their natural surroundings, I recommend you consider a Grand Teton National Park vacation. That is where you will find the excitement and experiences your family is looking for. One of those experiences is the Grand Teton Winter Safari. Today, I am sharing a little information about the Grand Teton Winter Safari, so you can see if this magical experience is perfect for your next family vacation.

Grand Teton Winter Safari: An Amazing Family Adventure

Winter Safari Options

Grand Teton Winter Safari: An Amazing Family Adventure - Moose During Winter in Grand Teton National Park

A Grand Teton Winter Safari tour can be a half-day or a full day. I prefer the full-day tour option, because it allows you to really immerse yourself in the local environment.

However, if your family vacation time is limited, a half-day is still going to give you the memories you are searching for.

A full-day Grand Teton winter safari will begin with breakfast. Afterward, you will venture into Grand Teton National Park, as well as the National Elk Refuge. So many animals live within these two areas. Imagine seeing elk, bison, moose, deer, wolves, big horn sheep, and bald eagles in their natural habitat.

Lunch is provided at a local restaurant. After your meal, your time will be spent either back in the park or at the National Museum of Wildlife Art.

Before your winter safari is over, you will take a sleigh ride through the National Elk Refuge.

Check out these other adventures your family can have inside Grand Teton National Park.

When it the Grand Teton Winter Safari?

Grand Teton Winter Safari: An Amazing Family Adventure - Winter Fun in Grand Teton National Park

Your family can enjoy the Grand Teton Winter Safari from November through April. The sleigh rides do not usually begin until December. They are all dependent on the weather and the amount of snowfall.

The best part about these winter safaris is that they are always small. There are no more than eight people within the group. So, there is a chance your family will be the only ones participating when you are visiting.

Other safari destinations right here in the US you should consider for your next family vacation.

It is important to note everyone in your group must be at least eight years of age to participate in the Grand Teton Winter Safari. There is no age limit for private winter safaris. Therefore, those will be the best option if you are traveling with smaller children.

The Grand Teton winter safari is just one of the many options in this part of the country. But do not feel like you are limited to this one thing while on a family vacation. I have so many other options to add to your next Grand Teton National Park vacation, as well as every other family vacation you want to take in the future.

So, are you ready to have me plan your family vacation and include the winter safari?

New Year’s Eve is celebrated with unique traditions around the globe, each reflecting cultural heritage and hopes for a fresh start. From smashing plates to jumping over waves, these quirky customs make ringing in the New Year a truly memorable experience. Here are 10 fascinating New Year’s Eve traditions from around the world that you might want to try:

New Year’s Eve Traditions

1. Eating 12 Grapes in Spain

In Spain, locals eat 12 grapes at the stroke of midnight—one for each chime of the clock. This tradition, called Las Doce Uvas de la Suerte, symbolizes good luck and prosperity for each month of the upcoming year.

2. Smashing Plates in Denmark

Danes welcome the New Year by smashing plates and glasses on the doors of friends and family. The more broken dishes you find outside your home, the luckier you’ll be in the coming year. Talk about starting the year with a bang!

3. Ringing Bells 108 Times in Japan

Buddhist temples in Japan ring their bells 108 times at midnight, a tradition called Joya no Kane. This practice is believed to cleanse participants of the 108 earthly desires, paving the way for a purified and prosperous new year.

4. Burning Effigies in Ecuador

In Ecuador, people create effigies called Años Viejos to represent the outgoing year. These effigies are burned at midnight, symbolizing the release of misfortunes and bad luck, and making space for positive energy in the new year.

5. First-Footing in Scotland

In Scotland, the first person to cross your threshold after midnight, known as the “first-foot,” is said to bring good fortune. Traditionally, this person is a dark-haired man carrying symbolic gifts like coal or whisky.

6. Jumping Over Seven Waves in Brazil

Brazilians celebrate by heading to the beach at midnight to jump over seven waves, making a wish with each leap. This tradition honors Yemanjá, the goddess of the sea, and brings good fortune for the year ahead.

7. Displaying Round Fruits in the Philippines

In the Philippines, families display 12 round fruits on New Year’s Eve to symbolize prosperity and wealth. The round shape represents coins, signifying abundance for the coming months.

8. Hanging Onions in Greece

In Greece, people hang onions on doors as a symbol of rebirth and a sign of growth and prosperity. Parents often wake their children on New Year’s Day by tapping them with onions for added luck!

9. Carrying Suitcases in Colombia

If travel is on your wish list, adopt Colombia’s tradition of walking around the block with an empty suitcase at midnight. This quirky custom promises to fill your year with exciting travel opportunities.

10. Banging Bread in Ireland

The Irish have a unique way of warding off bad spirits and inviting good luck—by banging Christmas bread on their walls and doors. It’s a loud but symbolic way to clear the path for a prosperous new year.

Celebrate New Year’s Eve Your Way

These quirky New Year’s Eve traditions highlight the diverse ways people around the world embrace the fresh start of a new year. Whether you’re smashing plates, eating grapes, or jumping waves, these customs are all about celebrating with joy, hope, and a bit of fun.

Multigenerational vacations are becoming the new normal. Parents love to spend time with their kids. And grandparents love to spend time with their grandkids. This is why multigenerational families can be seen exploring destinations together all over the world. If you have been craving this type of family vacation, you may be wondering where you could possibly visit. After all, you want every generation to have an amazing time. And you want to make memories you can all cherish forever. Well, I have discovered ten different multigenerational vacation ideas you may want to consider for your next trip.

Multigenerational Vacation Ideas for Families

National Parks in Utah – Spend time in nature with this multigenerational vacation idea

Multigenerational Vacation Ideas for Families - Virgin River Running Through Zion National Park in Utah

You may not know this, but Utah has five incredible national parks. Those parks are Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Zion. Each of the national parks in Utah are perfect for exploring the great outdoors as a family.

Canyonlands is the best option for day hikes. Canyoneering is possible at Zion National Park. And year-round activities for all generations are available at all five national parks in Utah.

This multigenerational vacation idea will have you exploring the national parks you want to see the most!

Surf Camp in Costa Rica

Does everyone in your family want to learn how to surf? Or do you all already know how to surf? If you said yes to either of those questions, then a family vacation at surf camp in Costa Rica should be at the top of your list.

As a travel advisor, I can arrange for lessons along the Nicoya Peninsula or in Tamarindo. Expert surfers can surf in those areas as well. When you’re not riding the waves, you can hike to waterfalls or relax amongst the lush landscape.

This is the perfect multigenerational vacation idea for those families who want to enjoy time together. Plus, you can also have a little time to yourselves.

African Safari

Multigenerational Vacation Ideas for Families - Gorilla Trekking Briefing

An African safari is a travel bucket list item for many families. That’s not surprising since watching wild animals roam, and run, through the African savanna is so exhilarating.

There are numerous safaris in Africa. I can share the ones that are best for your multigenerational family during our planning session.

Once we know which safari is best for you, I can determine where you will stay, and which family activities will be part of your adventures. And don’t worry, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, cheetahs, zebras, and wildebeests will always be a part of your days.

Gorgeous African destinations to consider for your next multigenerational vacation.

Biking Holiday in France – An active multigenerational vacation idea

Everybody knows the city of Paris is walker friendly. But did you know parts of France are also biker friendly? And by biker, I mean cyclist. Your multigenerational family can easily pedal alongside Brittany’s Emerald Coast. It is during that journey where you can visit the towns of St. Malo and Dinard.

You may even choose to bike ride through the Loire Valley to sample all the amazing wines. No matter which option you decide on for your next multigenerational vacation, you will make memories you will remember forever.

See why river cruises are one of the best multigenerational vacation ideas for families.

Outer Banks in North Carolina

The Outer Banks has long been known as an incredible multigenerational vacation idea destination for families. Every multigenerational family can choose their favorite spot amongst the two hundred miles of barrier islands.

When you are not spending time on the sandy beaches, there are plenty of other family activities to keep you all busy. Consider taking a dune buggy ride to see the wild horses on Ocracoke Island. Other family adventures include golfing, biking, and kayaking.

Dude Ranch

Has anyone in your family ever wanted to know what it was like to live and work on a farm? Well, one of my favorite vacation ideas for multigenerational families is vacationing at a dude ranch. There are a few different dude ranches to choose from in the US. I can help find the best one for your multigenerational family during our planning session.

During your stay at the dude ranch, your family will enjoy horseback riding lessons and s’mores over a campfire. Along with dozens of other farm-related activities every day.

US Railway Vacations

Seeing the sights of the US from the windows of a moving train is exactly what some multigenerational families need. I love recommending this vacation idea option to those multigenerational families who have a few extra days to spend together.

It is easy to take a train to your vacation destination and then fly home. And during your journey on the train, you can see so many sights you wouldn’t be able to see from the air.

On a train ride from Chicago to the Pacific Northwest, you can follow part of the route that Lewis and Clark walked. And the Rocky Mountains are the highlight of a train ride from Chicago to Emeryville, California.

Check out these other US multigenerational vacation ideas for your next trip.

Pennsylvania History Trail

Multigenerational Vacation Ideas for Families - Gettysburg in Pennsylvania

History-loving families will want to spend quite a bit of time exploring Pennsylvania. There is so much history in this state. Which is why I always offer it as a multigenerational vacation idea. As your travel advisor, I can plan your vacation, so you have time to see it all.

You can start with the Civil War at Gettysburg National Military Park. And your journey can conclude in Philadelphia, where the Declaration of Independence was signed.

Road Trip in New Zealand

New Zealand is normally a must-see vacation idea destination for multigenerational families. And many of those families include a vacation here with one over in Australia. When you arrive in New Zealand, you can explore the country in many ways. However, you may prefer to take a road trip.

There are numerous routes you can follow to see mountains, glaciers, lakes, and beautiful countryside. During your journey, you can stop when you want to see the sights, take family photos, and create a few memories to cherish in the future.

European Yacht Charter – A unique multigenerational vacation idea

The Mediterranean, Aegean, Ionian, and Adriatic Seas offer some of the most sparkling blue water in the world. One of the best ways to see these seas, and the islands amongst them, is to take a yacht charter.

Your family will love island hopping in Greece. Or sailing near the shoreline of Croatia. You can also sail around the entire country of Italy. As you can see, the possibilities are endless when you decide to spend time with your family on a yacht in Europe.

These are ten multigenerational vacation ideas for families. Each one offers the chance to make memories with every generation.

So, are you ready to book one of these multigenerational vacation ideas for your next family trip?

If you said yes, I would like to invite you to schedule a planning session with me by clicking here. When you click on this link, you will be taken directly to my digital calendar to schedule a time that is convenient for you.

Happy holidays! Today is a day to cherish time with family and friends. Hopefully, you have been doing that for a while now and will continue to do so throughout the new year. While you can make amazing memories at home with your family, and friends, there is nothing better than heading out on a family vacation during the holidays. There are so many destinations around the world that will have your whole family filled with the Christmas spirit. Today, I am sharing my favorite destinations for getting into the Christmas spirit. One of them should make it to the top of your list for the holidays next year. Then we can work together, as I personalize your itinerary and fill it to the brim with Christmas spirit for next year’s holiday season!

Amazing Vacation Destinations Filled with Christmas Spirit for Your Family

Nuremberg, Germany – The Best European Destination for Christmas Spirit

If you want to visit one of the best Christkindlmarkt in the world, you must go get into the Christmas spirit in Nuremberg, Germany. The Nuremberg Christkindlmakrt is one of the oldest Christmas markets in the country. The market opened in the 1600s.

During a visit to the market, you can shop for gifts. Or eat some of the holiday foods that include gingerbread, bratwurst, and mulled wine. There are so many local Christmas traditions you can participate in with your family too!

Christmas markets like this one can be found within the town squares in this city and the rest of the country. If you want to see more of them during your family vacation over the holidays, I recommend taking a Christmas market river cruise in Germany. It’s one of the best ways to see multiple markets, as well as numerous destinations in the country.

Check out these other European Christmas markets for your family holiday vacation.

New York City, New York – Best Local Destination for Christmas Spirit

Amazing Vacation Destinations Filled with Christmas Spirit for Your Family - Rockefeller Center in New York City at Christmas

New York City is always a vibrant place to visit. But this city really lights up around the holiday season. There is so much to do while embracing the Christmas spirit in the city.

Start by checking out the decorations in the windows at Macy’s. Then head to Rockefeller Center to see the massive Christmas tree. Do a little ice skating on the rink or take a horse and carriage ride through Central Park.

Of course, no Christmas in New York City is complete without watching a performance by the Rockettes. Their show, Christmas Spectacular, is at Radio City Music Hall. I also recommend shopping at the Christmas market in Bryant Park.

Rovaniemi, Finland

Rovaniemi is part of Lapland in Finland. It is considered the home of Santa Claus. This cold and wintery destination is the perfect place to visit to get into the Christmas spirit. You can visit with Santa and his elves at Santa Claus Village.

I recommend spending at least one night in an igloo. They are perfect for watching the Northern Lights from the comfort of your bed.

Vienna, Austria

Another amazing destination filled with Christmas markets is Vienna. The oldest Christmas market in Vienna opened in the 1200s.

During your visit to the market, you can play games, like curling. Listen to holiday music, eat holiday foods, and do a little holiday shopping. The kids will love participating in the cookie making workshops.

North Pole, Alaska

Amazing Vacation Destinations Filled with Christmas Spirit for Your Family - Santa Claus House in Alaska

If you have always wanted to visit Alaska, there is no better time than during the Christmas season. This city in Alaska celebrates the holidays all year long.

When you arrive at the North Pole, you will see streets like Santa Claus Lane, Kris Kringle Drive, and Blitzen Drive. I recommend putting the Santa Claus House at the top of your list of places to see. You will find plenty of Christmas spirit there. The entire place is packed to the ceiling with souvenirs, ornaments, and even letters to Santa.

Another fun thing to do is attend the Christmas in Ice Festival. Your family will love the ice sculptures and ice slides.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen looks like it came right out of the pages of a storybook. But during the holidays, this city really turns into a Christmas fairytale destination.

The kids will love visiting Tivoli Gardens. It is an amusement park that is decorated with lights and other holiday displays. Another popular thing to do in Copenhagen is visit the different Christmas markets. They are everywhere and they all have Christmas décor, ornaments, and mulled wine.

Montreal, Canada

The Christmas spirit begins in Montreal with the Defile de Pere Noel. This is a Christmas parade that began more than seventy years ago. The rest of the month features fireworks, lighted décor on the streets, and a few unique Christmas markets.

These are some of my favorite destinations for getting into the Christmas spirit with family. You can choose from other destinations too, so don’t feel like you are stuck with one of these options. After all, I will be able to personalize your family’s itinerary no matter where you decide to visit for the holidays.

So, are you ready for me to create a personalized family vacation itinerary for your trip to get into the Christmas spirit?

US Merry Christmas Eve to those of you who celebrate! Have you been dreaming of visiting the Christkindlmarkts over in Europe? Do you simply not have the time you need to jet off to Europe with your family to do this memorable experience? Well, there are a few Christmas Markets right here in the US. And some of them are just as appealing, and fairy tale like, as the Christmas Markets you would find on the other side of the world! These markets offer traditional foods and all the handmade gifts you have been craving. The best part is it is so much easier to take a weekend family vacation to check out these US-based Christkindlmarkets. And yes, I realize it is too late to visit these this year. However, now is the perfect time to start planning a magical holiday trip with your family for next year!

US Christmas Markets Your Family Must Visit This Holiday Season

Kerstmarkt in Holland, Michigan – A Popular US Christmas Market

https://integritylawfirmcmr.com/amazing-christmas-markets-in-germany-for-your-family-holiday - Christmas Decor

You may or may not have heard about Holland, Michigan. This small town in Michigan is famous for their tulips in the spring, as well as its Dutch heritage.

Well, during the holiday season, your family will appreciate Holland for its Christmas magic! The Christmas Market, Kerstmarkt, is just like all the Christkindlmarkts in the Netherlands. There are normally eighteen booths selling everything from crafts to Dutch cuisine and traditional Michigan holiday foods.

Kerstmarkt is held on certain days every November and December.

Christmas Village in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Christmas Village in Philadelphia is inspired by the Christkindlmarkets in Germany. This Christmas Market is near City Hall.

Your family won’t want to miss the twinkling lights that surround the wooden huts selling gifts and delectable cuisine. They added a German food court this year. Therefore, your family will want to bring their appetite if they want to try all the spätzle, bratwurst, and Belgian fries.

Oh, and the kids can take a ride on the double-decker carousel while you and your spouse enjoy a beer or glass of spiced wine in the beer garden.

The Christmas Village is open every day from the end of November until Christmas Eve.

Christkindlmarket in Chicago, Illinois

The holiday magic is everywhere in the city of Chicago! Your family can wander the streets as you check out holiday window displays.

As you all get swept away in all the yuletide joy, you won’t want to forget to visit the Christkindlmarket. A Christmas Market in Nuremberg, Germany was the inspiration for this US Christmas Market.

The wooden stalls are full of food, drinks, and beautifully crafted gifts. A gingerbread treat is a must, but so is a glass of mulled wine, or glühwein, for the adults.

The Christkindlmarket opens in the middle of November each year and runs until Christmas Eve.

Savannah Christmas Market in Savannah, Georgia

The Savannah Christmas Market is one of the newer Christmas Markets in the US.  You will find this Christkindlmarkt down near the river.

The vendors sell everything from beer and mulled wine to Bavarian pretzels and tons of chocolate items. Numerous special events coincide with this market.

The featured events are always the tree lighting ceremony and the Savannah Harbor boat parade of lights.

Savannah’s Christmas Market is open Thursdays through Sundays from the end of November through right before Christmas Eve.

Consider these amazing family friendly activities during a holiday vacation in Savannah.

Scandinavian Christmas Fair in Raleigh, North Carolina

US Christmas Markets Your Family Must Visit During the Holidays - Christmas in the Carolinas

The Christkindlmarkt in Raleigh is called Julmarknad. Your family will love all the Swedish elements that are incorporated into the festivities.

Visit Tomten after eating all the Swedish delicacies. This is Santa Claus in Scandanavia!

Make sure you plan to stay at this Christmas Market for a while. Your family won’t want to miss out on traditional folk dancing. And don’t forget to grab your Norwegian sweaters and gnomes for all those holiday gifts you need!

The Scandinavian Christmas Fair is only held on one day each year. I can help you determine when that day will be next holiday season.

Consider a Christmas Market river cruise for your family vacation next holiday season.

Après Ski Holiday Market at Dairy Block in Denver, Colorado

There are multiple Christkindlmarkets in the city of Denver each year. While they are all amazing, you will want to begin your family time at the Après Ski Holiday Market at Dairy Block.

Your family will feel as if you stepped into a Swiss ski village that looks like a winter wonderland. Coffee inside a bubble tent and wine in a heated igloo are only two of the unique experiences your family can enjoy at this Christmas Market.

This Christkindlmarket is open on Fridays through Sundays from the end of November through the middle of December.

Check out these incredible activities for your family vacation in Denver.

Solvang Julefest in Solvang, California

Over at the Solvang Julefest, it is all about Danish culture and the Christmas season. The entire downtown area of Solvang transforms into a quaint Christmas village.

As your family wanders around, you can visit with Santa, devour a few dozen different Christmas cookies, and even complete a scavenger hunt.

This Christmas Market in California opens at the end of November, and the fun continues until New Year’s Day.

These are the best US Christmas Markets, and your family must visit at least one of them this holiday season. You don’t need to travel out of the country any more to get an authentic Christkindlmarkt experience. Instead, choose one of these Christmas Markets and make those holiday memories you will cherish forever!

The Big Island of Hawaii is the largest of all the Hawaiian Islands. This is why so many people choose the island for their Hawaiian family vacation. If you happen to know this Hawaiian Island is perfect for your family, or you are simply starting with this island, you must know a few things before planning your family adventures! I happen to love the Big Island of Hawaii. Therefore, I wanted to share some tips that will make your time there better than you could ever imagine!

Big Island of Hawaii Travel Guide for Your Family Vacation

History on the Big Island of Hawaii

Big Island of Hawaii Travel Guide for Your Family Vacation - Hawaiian Culture

A Polynesian navigator, Hawai’iloa, discovered the Big Island of Hawaii. At least according to one of the many legends. Another legend shares this island used to be the realm of Hawaiki and was where people went in their afterlife.

However, this island was actually discovered by explorers from the Marquesas Islands. Those Polynesian explorers brought their cultures and traditions over to this island, and you can still experience them today.

The oldest section of the Big Island is the North Kohala Peninsula. If you want to see the most history during your vacation, I recommend spending a little time here.

Weather on the Big Island of Hawaii

You may be shocked to discover that there are really only two seasons on the Big Island of Hawaii! Then again, you might not be, because you know the weather in Hawaii is always amazing!

Summer in Hawaii

The months of May through October is summer on the Big Island of Hawaii. These months are quite dry. The temperatures average around 85 to 90 degrees during the day.

Winter in Hawaii

The temperatures do not drop much during the winter months in Hawaii. The months of November through April have temperatures between 79 and 83 degrees. The only major difference you will see weather-wise during these months is there will be much more rain. Some areas of the island get more rain than others, and the sun is almost always shining somewhere. Therefore, if you simply switch your plans a little for the day, you can avoid the rain altogether!

Best Time to Vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii

There really isn’t a “best” time to vacation in Hawaii. However, if you want to avoid the rain, I recommend visiting during the summer months. The middle of June through the end of August is the peak season. As is the middle of December through the middle of March. If you want to avoid an influx of people and higher prices, you may want to avoid those times.

Since this is your family vacation, you may want to choose to visit when there is the most daylight, so you can accomplish everything on your must-do list. The days in June have two and a half more hours of daylight than the days in December. I recommend keeping this in mind if you know your family will be active from sunup to sun-down.

What to Pack for a Family Vacation in Hawaii

Clothing items for warm weather is a must when packing for a family vacation in Hawaii. However, I recommend being prepared for the rain. Pack a raincoat or an umbrella. And if you know you will be going up to the mountainous regions, a warm jacket and even gloves and a hat will be helpful. After all, there can be snow up in the mountains, and it gets cold as you reach those higher elevations.

Places to Stay While on a Hawaiian Vacation with Family

You may not have as many unique accommodation options when you take a family vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii. However, you can still choose from an Airbnb, hotel, resort, and a select few bed and breakfasts. While every family has their own personal needs for vacations, I have discovered the resorts in Hawaii usually offer the best value and amenities. We can discuss your family’s personal vacation accommodation requirements, so we can determine the best accommodations for your Hawaiian vacation.

Foods You Must Try While on Vacation in Hawaii

Big Island of Hawaii Travel Guide for Your Family Vacation - Hawaiian Traditional Plate Lunch with Ahi Poke

Soft, sandy beaches, warm ocean water, and thrilling adventures are always the main reasons why people vacation in Hawaii. However, it may be the local foods that make you want to return to this gorgeous island in the future!

Main Foods

  • Poke – Diced raw ahi tuna is used to make this popular Hawaiian dish. It is served with rice and multiple sauces. There are many different variations though, so you can often find it made with other types of raw fish.
  • Acai Bowls – The warmer days of the year are perfect for acai bowls. But honestly, you can eat these fruity bowls whenever you would like! These smoothie bowls are made with acai berries, granola, other types of fruit, and numerous toppings. You can basically build the acai bowl of your dreams!
  • Loco Moco – Loco moco is a bowl of rice topped with a burger and gravy.
  • Kona Coffee – Okay, so Kona coffee is not a food, but it is a must-try drink when you are vacationing in Hawaii. The coffee beans for Kona coffee are grown in the Kona region of the Big Island. For the best experience, make sure you are getting 100% Kona coffee. The blends are only required to have 10% Kona coffee in them. Kona coffee is expensive, but it is worth the money from the very first sip!
  • Furikake Chicken – Fried chicken is always delicious. Especially on the Big Island of Hawaii. I recommend trying the fried chicken that is coated with furikake seasoning. This seasoning is made with dried seaweed, bonito flakes, and sesame seeds.
  • Spam Musubi – One of the most popular snacks in Hawaii is Spam Musubi. In fact, the locals in Hawaii eat the most Spam in the world! A slice of Spam is placed on top of a block of rice before being wrapped with Nori.

Desserts

  • Shave Ice – If nothing else on this list of must-try foods in Hawaii sounds appealing, the shave ice will be something your family will love to eat! Fluffy, shaved ice is placed in a bowl. You get to cover it with a fruity syrup of your choice. This is the perfect treat on a nice hot day in Hawaii!
  • Malasadas – The must-try donut in Hawaii is the Malasadas. This fried treat does not look like a traditional donut with a hole in the middle. It has a doughy center. Or it is filled with delightful ingredients like coconut. Malasadas are served warm and coated with granulated sugar.

Activities to Embrace While on Vacation in Hawaii

As a family, you will all enjoy doing a little manta ray diving over near Kona. And as the day turns into night, you can all venture over to Mauna Kea for some of the best stargazing views in the world. However, those aren’t the only popular activities on the Big Island. I also recommend considering adding the following activities to your Hawaii family vacation itinerary:

  • ATV Riding
  • Wandering Through the Rainforests
  • Hiking
  • Golfing
  • Horseback Riding
  • Soaking in a Hot Spring
  • Surfing
  • Whale Watching
  • Ziplining over the Jungles, Rainforests, and Ravines

Top Places to See While on Vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii

Hawaii may be an island, but that doesn’t mean you will find yourself lacking in things to do during your vacation. Instead, you will find yourself in agony. Mainly because you won’t be able to fit everything on your must-do list in your itinerary! While you will have your own preferences, I guarantee you won’t want to leave these three top places off your list.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

There are two active volcanoes within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. However, Kilauea is a must-see volcano. It stands at four thousand feet tall, and while it hasn’t been erupting in recent months, it is a volcano that bears watching. If you are lucky, you may capture a glimpse of lava flow during your visit. And if you don’t get to see lava, at least you can see the volcano up close as you hike the nearby trails. Plus, you can venture to the summit of Mauna Kea for the views or do a little stargazing.

Akaka Falls State Park

Big Island of Hawaii Travel Guide for Your Family Vacation - Akaka Falls State Park

If your family loves waterfalls and you want to check two off your list quickly, I recommend heading over to Akaka Falls State Park. The trail leading to the waterfalls is flat and paved, making it easy to navigate by even the smallest children. Plus, the trail is not long, and you can easily walk it in 30 minutes or less. While the views from the trail are amazing, the highlight will be when you arrive at Kahuna Falls and then Akaka Falls.

Hilo Farmers Market

When you are hungry, thirsty, and in the mood for a little shopping, you must venture over to the Hilo Farmers Market. This farmer’s market is open daily. It is the best place to grab a bite to eat while shopping at the same time. If you are looking for the most variety, I recommend visiting on a Wednesday or Saturday. This is when most vendors are there. This is when you will find some of the most unique items like jaboticaba fruit and bongo drums. It is also best to use caution when making purchases. Like everywhere else, you will have some fake items offered as local souvenirs.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Family Vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii

There are always going to be tips you must know before traveling to any destination around the world. My top tips for getting the most out of your family vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii include:

  • Choose Your Accommodations Wisely – Together, we will find the perfect accommodations for your family.
  • Rental Cars are a Must – You may not choose to rent on a car on most family vacations you take, but you must when you are visiting the Big Island of Hawaii. If you don’t, you will find yourself without any options for getting to the destinations you want to see the most.
  • Plan a Luau Towards the End of Your Trip – The time change can be really daunting for some families. Since the luaus end really late, you may not be ready to stay up that long towards the beginning of your trip.
  • Purchase Reef Safe Sunscreen – Skip packing the sunscreen in your suitcase and purchase the reef-safe version when you arrive. The coral reefs and marine life will thank you!
  • Always Check the Weather Before Heading Out for the Day – When you check the weather in the morning, you can avoid mishaps like hiking in the rain and so much more. Most Hawaiian itineraries can have their days or times swapped if you do happen to encounter a rainstorm during your visit.

This travel guide should have you understand everything you need to know to have a fabulous family vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii! And if you have any questions, I can share the answers with you, as I am booking your Hawaiian vacation for you!

Thanksgiving is a time for being thankful for our family and our friends. It is also the time we give thanks for everything we have. Most of us begin the day early as we put the turkey in the oven. Some of us will begin even earlier, though, as we prepare fresh cinnamon rolls for the kids who have made it home in time for the holiday. I understand you probably don’t see some of your older kids too often now. Especially if they have moved to a different city. I know I don’t see mine as often as I would like. But that is why I choose to plan a family vacation when I have all my kids home at this time of the year. All the togetherness and reminiscing about past family vacations gets everyone excited about planning a family vacation for the following year!

Plan a Family Vacation During Thanksgiving Dinner

Talk About Past Family Vacations While Eating Thanksgiving Dinner

Plan a Family Vacation During Thanksgiving - Family Eating and Talking While Enjoying a Thanksgiving Meal

As everyone is sitting around the dinner table, devouring the turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and pumpkin pie, start a conversation about past family vacations. Every member of your family will have a memory they will want to share. And trust me when I say they will be more than ready to grab their calendars and block out time off for your next family vacation.

Of course, everyone will have their own ideas of where you should go and what you should do. But, hey, what’s better than a lively conversation around the Thanksgiving dinner table?!

If it doesn’t seem like you can all agree on one destination, start to discuss past family vacations. Have everyone think about what they liked and didn’t like about those destinations. This can be helpful when planning a family vacation because it allows you to come up with destinations that are similar to those you have liked in the past.

There will be times when you can choose family vacation destinations further away from home. But if a couple of the kids have time restraints for next year, it may be best to plan a family vacation closer to home. Or closer to where they live. This will ensure everyone can enjoy a little time together during a family vacation.

Activities to Consider for Your Next Family Vacation

Once you all have agreed on a family vacation destination, you can start to talk about the more important parts of the vacation. You know… the activities you will all do together!

When it comes to activities, you must keep everyone’s age and limitations in mind. Younger grandkids won’t be able to go zip lining high up in the trees. But they can go swimming at the base of a waterfall. And you might not be capable of doing that 12-mile hike your youngest son wants to tackle. But you can watch the grandkids while your kids tackle the strenuous hike.

Speaking of watching the grandkids. You must make sure you plan a little downtime for everyone on your next family vacation. As you are sitting around the dinner table this Thanksgiving, you might want to discuss what that could look like. Maybe you all decide to split up for an afternoon. A few of you can head down to the pool while others nap, read a book, or check in on social media.

One last thing you might want to discuss before everyone heads back home is where you will all stay. Some families prefer the amenities at hotels and resorts. Others prefer the coziness and chaos that a rental home brings. Your decision may be based on the size of your family, the amount of cooking and cleaning you want to do, and whether you want a little quiet time at night. If your kids stay up much later than you do, then hotel rooms may be your best option. However, if you want as much together time as possible, a rental home will allow just that.

Consider These Options When Planning a Vacation During Thanksgiving This Year

Plan a Family Vacation During Thanksgiving - Family on a Ski Trip for Vacation

Best Ski Resorts in New England – This is the perfect family vacation option when you all want to spend time outside in the snow. Especially as you make memories on the slopes to cherish forever.

Family Vacation in Antigua and Barbuda – Warm weather, soft sandy beaches, and island vibes will be waiting for your entire family when you choose to vacation in Antigua and Barbuda.

Plan an Amazing Family Vacation in Alaska – Alaska is a phenomenal destination your whole family will love. Start to imagine the memories you will all make, as you walk on glaciers, snuggle with sled puppies, and see whales and other marine life.

Sink Your Toes in the Sand at These Family Friendly Beaches – Spending time with your family might be as simple as relaxing on a family friendly beach in between time participating in water sports.

Plan a Christmas Market River Cruise for Your Next Family Vacation – The Christmas markets in Europe will allow your entire family to get into the holiday spirit while exploring new destinations. Some of the memories you make during this family vacation will include sipping on mulled wine and purchasing gifts to take back home. You may even participate in a new activity that will then be a part of your holiday traditions in the future.

Yes, Halloween has just passed. But it is never too early to plan for next year’s spooky season. Especially when it comes to planning a haunted family vacation in Savannah. Plus, I don’t know about you, but the fall brings out the ghost-seeker in me. It seems to be the perfect time of the year to listen to ghost stories, wander through haunted houses, and even attempt to scare up a ghost or two! Does experiencing the ghosts in Savannah firsthand sound interesting? If you said yes, you must check out these Savannah GA haunted attractions. Of course, you can visit Savannah to conjure up a few ghosts at any time of the year. The ghosts will be waiting for you!

Savannah GA Haunted Attractions to See During Your Family Vacation

The Andrew Low House

Savannah GA Haunted Attractions to See During Your Family Vacation - Andrew Low House and Museum in Savannah GA

The Andrew Low House is located at 329 Abercorn Street. This house is now a museum. The people in charge do not like to discuss the ghostly happenings inside. But you can wander around and feel the history and spirits that are still alive.

Mercer Williams House – One of the Most Known Savannah GA Haunted Attraction

The Mercer Williams House was featured in a very popular book. The book is Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt. If you haven’t taken the time to read it, you really must check it out!

This is one of the most stopped by haunted attractions in Savannah. You will find  this spooky house on Monterey Square. There have been three deaths in this home, including one of an eleven-year-old boy.

It may be exactly what you need to add to your itinerary to scare your teens while on vacation!

Plan your family vacation in Savannah with my travel guide!

The Davenport House

The Davenport House is in Columbia Square. Numerous ghosts live inside the Davenport House in Savannah.

In addition to the human ghosts, there is a cat ghost at this home. Sometimes this cat can be seen racing from one room to another. Other times it is sitting on the windowsill.

The Davenport House is currently a museum. So, you can go in and explore when it is open.

Here are a few other amazing things to do during a family vacation in Savannah.

The Olde Pink House – Best Savannah GA Haunted Attraction for Dining

You can actually dine with the ghosts at the Olde Pink House in Savannah. The Olde Pink House is one of the most haunted buildings in Savannah.

One of the old owners of this home killed himself there. His ghost continues to roam the house. He is only one of the ghosts in this home though. So, I recommend being prepared to experience ghosts during your family vacation visit.

Lafayette Square

Lafayette Square is the most haunted square in Savannah. There are also numerous haunted houses and buildings around this square. Lafayette Square is where many of the ghosts congregate.

Here are a few southeastern haunted towns to consider visiting during a future family vacation.

The Marshall House Hotel

Savannah GA Haunted Attractions to See During Your Family Vacation - The Marshall House Hotel In Savannah GA

The Marshall House Hotel was once a Civil War Hospital. It also served as a hospital during the yellow fever epidemics of the 19th century.

You can now stay in this hotel. Which means you will have ample opportunities to run into the ghosts that roam the hallways.

While on a vacation with kids, you can walk through the hallways, reading the stories posted on the walls.

The Willink House

The Willink House is located at 426 East St. Julian Street. However, it was not always located there. The Willink House was on the corner of Perry and Price Streets before moving to this location.

To this day, neighbors continue to hear the front door slamming shut. Things are constantly moving inside the house. But not by people.

Henry F. Willink is one of those ghosts and many of the other are the school children that went to school inside the home.

Chech out these other haunted houses in the US.

432 Abercorn Street

The haunted attractions in Savannah are not without controversy. Many people have gone wild with the ghostly stories of 432 Abercorn Street. So much so that many of them are not true at all.

This home was constructed on top of a slave burial site. No one really knows who is roaming this building. And no one ever will.

No one is allowed to go inside this tightly closed up home.

Visit a few of the most haunted towns in America during a family vacation. Each town is guaranteed to scare everyone in your family!

You can check out all these haunted attractions, plus many others during your family vacation in Savannah, GA. While you can visit them all on your own, I recommend taking one of the many ghostly tours in Savannah. They are the best way to learn about ghosts, hauntings, and other spooky happenings in Savannah.

When do you consider the perfect time of the year for a family vacation? If you are like most people, your answer is going to be the summer. But why are you leaving out the beauty of fall and all the amazing things autumn brings to destinations all over the world? One of the best places to visit in the fall is Alaska. There is so many things to do in Alaska during the fall. Plus, the weather is still nice enough where you won’t freeze while you are on your family vacation! I could go on and on as to all the reasons to visit Alaska in the fall. However, today, I will stick to the five main reasons why fall is perfect for visiting Alaska.

Reasons to Visit Alaska in the Fall

1. Fewer People

Reasons to Visit Alaska in the Fall - Historic Buildings in Downtown Anchorage

As I mentioned above, lots of people travel during the summer. This means that fall in Alaska offers fewer crowds. While you are wandering around, you will have a better chance of talking to the locals. You will also have time to truly appreciate the destinations and attractions you are visiting.

Don’t forget to check out the Alaska Museum of Science and Nature, as well as the Alaska Native Heritage Center during your visit!

Did you know that fewer crowds is one of the best reasons to visit Alaska in the fall?

2. Appreciate the Changes of Color

You don’t need to travel too far to see the color changes during the fall. But in Alaska, the fall brings intense colors that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world! Everything seems to change color. Plus, you will notice those brilliant colors the moment you arrive.

Check out what you should know before taking a road trip in Alaska.

3. Catch Wildlife Sightings Before Hibernation Begins – Best Reason to Visit Alaska in the Fall

Reasons to Visit Alaska in the Fall - Wild Moose in Denali National Park

Yes, the wildlife in Alaska is used to the colder temperatures. But that doesn’t mean that some of the animals wander around all winter long. Many of the animals will hibernate for at least short periods of time. Therefore, you might not see every animal if you wait until winter to vacation in Alaska.

4. Fewer Mosquitos – My Favorite Reason to Visit Alaska in the Fall

Okay, unless you are a fan of mosquitos, you are going to love having fewer of them around when you vacation in Alaska in the fall. I am not a fan of these tiny little bugs. And Alaska has thirty-five different mosquito species! Yikes!

Thankfully, they almost disappear during the autumn in Alaska.

5. The State Fair

As long as you plan your vacation in Alaska for the beginning of September, you have an excellent chance of attending the Alaska State Fair.

This state fair in Alaska is held in Palmer. It is an excellent way to spend time with the locals.

You must consult the food map, so you don’t miss out on the tasty reindeer dogs and other local cuisine. Your time at the fair will also include seeing the largest pumpkins and cabbages in the world. Add in the comedy and musical acts and you will remember your time in Alaska forever!

These are five incredible reasons to visit Alaska in the fall. I can share even more reasons with you when we chat about me planning your next Alaskan family vacation.

So, are you ready to book a family vacation in Alaska?

If you said yes, I would like to invite you to schedule a planning session with me by clicking here. When you click on this link, you will be directed to my digital calendar to schedule a time that is convenient for you.
