I’ve rounded up the best destinations for 2025. Imagine creating memories with your family, as you explore natural wonders and culture-rich cities. Travel trends are shifting toward more immersive experiences, which is perfect for those memories you want to create. And those experiences make now the perfect time to discover the best places to visit in 2025. From the historic marvels of Greece to the wild safaris of South Africa and the theme park magic of Japan, these destinations offer something for every type of traveler. Start working with a travel advisor like myself now, so 2025 is your best year of travel yet!

Best Family Vacation Destinations for 2025: Top Places for Adventure, Culture, and Fun

Japan – Best Unique Destination for 2025

Best Family Vacation Destinations for 2025: Top Places for Adventure, Culture, and Fun - Tokyo Japan

Japan is quickly rising to the top of the list for best family vacation destinations for 2025. Part of this is due to all the buzz around the Osaka Expo 2025. Of course, you also can’t go wrong with trips to lesser-known regions like Tohoku and Kyushu.

During your family vacation in Japan, you can spend time at the above-mentioned expo. However, there are so many other activities your family will love to do.

Start with a visit to Tokyo Disney and Universal Studios Japan. Comparing these two theme parks to their US counterparts will really get your family members talking. And voicing their opinions.

Kids of all ages will love visiting TeamLab Planets in Tokyo. It is an interactive digital arts museum that will keep everyone busy, as they create works of art.

Over in historic Kyoto, you will visit golden temples and participate in a traditional tea ceremony. If you are lucky, everyone in your group will put a smile on their face, as you make them dress in a kimono for the day. Make sure you take pictures, or you will have trouble proving it happened!

Don’t skip past the beaches in Okinawa. They are perfect for snorkeling and glass-bottom boat rides.

Greece – Best Island Destination for 2025

Mythology and island escapes await when you choose a family vacation in Greece. This country is full of history, stunning landscapes, and friendly locals. Add in the sustainable tourism and it is easy to see why Greece is one of the top travel destinations this year.

On the mainland, you can explore the city of Athens. Take the time to stop at the Acropolis to explore the ancient ruins. And don’t be surprised when your kids have fun learning about Greek mythology.

There are plenty of islands to visit in Greece. Santorini and Crete are perfect for when you need a day or two at the beach. I can help you find the perfect family-friendly resort right on the water.

You can easily island hop to other destinations from those two islands. Family-friendly islands like Naxos and Paros are usually only a ferry ride away.

One of the best ways to experience Greek culture during your family vacation is by taking a traditional Greek cooking class. You can introduce the kids, and yourself, to new flavors and foods, while learning how to prepare a new favorite meal back home.

What Greece offers every type of traveler.

Costa Rica

Thrilling outdoor adventures are everywhere down in Costa Rica. Which is why it is on my list of best destinations for 2025.

It is simple to spend hours outside each day during your family vacation in Costa Rica. Everyone will love hiking around the volcano before soaking in the hot springs in Arenal Volcano National Park.

Monkeys and sloths will be waiting for you near the suspension bridges within the Monteverde Cloud Forest. And if you time your vacation right, you can spot sea turtles nesting in Tortuguero National Park.

Check out this 10-day itinerary in Costa Rica to see what is possible for your next family vacation.

Canada

You won’t need to travel too far from home to reach one of the best places to visit in 2025. Banff and Vancouver are two destinations that are perfect for families of all ages. Especially since you can choose to spend time in the vibrant cities or out in nature.

Active families will love hiking and canoeing in Banff National Park. Or skiing on the slopes in Whistler.

And if you are searching for a calmer family vacation experience, Vancouver’s Capilano Suspension Bridge will take you high above the forest canopy. The views up there are amazing.

I also recommend vacationing in Toronto and Niagara Falls. The iconic landmarks in those two destinations are kid friendly. And you will still make memories you will cherish forever.

South Africa – Best Safari Destination for 2025

Best Family Vacation Destinations for 2025: Top Places for Adventure, Culture, and Fun - Elephants in South Africa

There are quite a few bucket list destinations in this world. However, South Africa always seems to top the list of best destinations each year and it is no different for 2025. So, if you are interested in heading out on safari with your family, South Africa is your go-to destination.

I highly recommend visiting Kruger National Park. I can arrange for you to go on safari there to see the elephants, lions, giraffes, and other wildlife.

Another option in South Africa is walking alongside adorable penguins at Boulders Beach. Or ride the cable car to the top of Cape Town’s Table Mountain to experience the gorgeous views.

Taking a road trip along the Garden Route is an excellent way to explore caves, beaches, and wildlife sanctuaries.

Check out these gorgeous African destinations for your next family vacation.

Portugal

One of the most welcoming European countries is Portugal. The locals are friendly, which is perfect when traveling with children.

This best destination for 2025 offers plenty of attractions and activities for families of all sizes. Start exploring the city’s charming neighborhoods by riding Lisbon’s Tram 28. Then head into the Douro Valley to take a river cruise through Portugal’s infamous wine region.

Relaxing days on the beach are possible when you head over to the Algarve. The kids can swim and build sandcastles, while you read a book or simply stare out at the nearby landscape.

And you won’t want to miss feeling like you are in a fairytale setting during your family vacation in Portugal. Create your own magical stories while visiting attractions like Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira.

Norway

The dancing Northern Lights are what makes Norway one of the best destinations for family travel in 2025. Of course, you need to plan your vacation just right if you want to see this magical attraction in the nighttime sky.

I recommend working with a travel advisor like myself to plan your trip, so you don’t miss out on the spectacular light show. While you can view the Northern Lights from many places in Norway, I highly recommend viewing them from Tromsø. If you do, it will be a once in a lifetime experience you will never forget.

While in Oslo, step back in time to learn about real Viking history at the Viking Ship Museum. Although, you may prefer to venture out on one of the world’s most scenic train journeys.

The Flåm Railway Ride will take your family on a twelve-mile-long adventure in Norway. The train passes by waterfalls, mountains, rivers, and small farms. There are also twenty tunnels you will pass through during this adventure.

Oh, and if you want to see puffins during your family vacation in Norway, allow me to book a fjords cruise for you. This will allow you to see cute puffins, seals, and even waterfalls up close.

Check out my travel guide for Norway before you book your next family vacation.

Scotland

Best Family Vacation Destinations for 2025: Top Places for Adventure, Culture, and Fun - Victoria Street in Edinburgh, Scotland

There are plenty of castles to explore in Scotland. And all that medieval charm is what makes this country one of the best destinations for 2025.

Harry Potter enthusiasts will want to participate in Edinburgh’s Harry Potter Walking Tour. All the locations on this tour inspired J.K. Rowling as she was writing the books.

Of course, you can’t visit Scotland and not take the time to search for the legendary Nessie. A loch ness boat tour is one of the best ways to spot this creature. Just get your camera ready, because Nessie is quick, and she won’t stay above the water for too long! 😉

And magical scenery is everywhere at the Isle of Skye Fairy Pools. I recommend hiking through the area to see the waterfalls and clear blue pools. You may even want to create a story of your own to tell, as you are experiencing this magical destination.

Check out this itinerary for Scotland to see what your family can do during a vacation there.

Thailand

If Thailand has long been on your list of places to see, you will be happy to know it is one of the best destinations for 2025. And why wouldn’t it be with its welcoming community and delicious street foods.

I recommend starting your adventure at Chiang Mai’s Elephant Sanctuaries. This is one of the ethical elephant sanctuaries in Thailand. And it is one of the best places to learn more about the conservation efforts being made for this species.

A boat ride in Bangkok will allow you to shop at the floating markets. You will be amazed at all the local treats and souvenirs you can purchase from these floating markets. Just don’t go overboard or you may find yourself searching for an additional suitcase for your trip home.

Island hopping is an excellent way to see the surrounding islands of Thailand. Although, Phuket will be your favorite if you want to spend a few days at the beach.

Peru

Andean adventures and mystical ruins are everywhere in Peru. Those two things make this one of the best places to visit in 2025. Plus, there are new routes leading to Machu Picchu. This means it is even easier to reach this cultural destination while on vacation in Peru.

When you aren’t visiting Machu Picchu, you may want to spend time in Lima. There is a nighttime fountain show there called the Magic Water Circuit. The kids will love staying up late to watch it. And you will love it because it is family friendly.

Another popular activity in Peru for families is visiting Lake Titicaca’s Floating Islands. These islands are made entirely of reeds, making them quite unique.

Iceland

Another magical destination for family vacations in 2025 is Iceland. This country is packed with family-friendly activities, as well as dramatic landscapes.

Start your vacation in Iceland with a drive along the Golden Circle. This is an excellent way to see many of the best geysers, waterfalls, and volcanic craters in the country.

One of the best ways to see the wildlife in Iceland is to take a tour. There are a few puffin and whale watching tours that I recommend for families. I can add the one that is perfect for your family to your itinerary, as I am planning your vacation.

Families with older kids will want to venture out on a glacier ice cave adventure while on vacation in Iceland. The ice caves create a fabulous winter wonderland experience.

One thing you can’t miss doing while in Iceland on a family vacation is soaking in one of the geothermal hot springs. Blue Lagoon is the most popular place to go. However, there are other hot springs that may fit your family’s needs more. We will discuss your options while I plan your family vacation.

Use my travel guide for your family vacation in Iceland.

No matter what kind of adventure your family craves, these best destinations for 2025 offer something for everyone. You can spend days exploring ancient ruins, spotting wildlife on safari, or relaxing on a soft sandy beach. The world is full of incredible places just waiting to be discovered. And now is the perfect time to start planning your family vacation in 2025. While these are considered the best places to visit in 2025, there are so many other destinations that will have you creating unforgettable memories with your family. It’s almost time to pack your bags, grab your loved ones, and get ready for an incredible year of travel.

Are you ready to finally go on a family vacation in the southeast? I didn’t spend any time in the southeast for a couple years, but I changed that last year. And I’m so glad I did, because I missed their southern hospitality! You may want the sun and the sand during your southeast vacation. But don’t discount the historic sites in the southeast. You can easily add a few of them to your itinerary in between all those beach days! Today, I am sharing a few of the must-see historic sites you can add to your family vacation in the southeast. I guarantee you will make a few memories at these sites to add to your fun in the sand.

Family Vacation in the Southeast? Make Memories at These Historic Sites

Old Fort Jackson in Savannah, Georgia

Family Vacation in the Southeast? Make Memories at These Historic Sites - Old Fort Jackson in Savannah, Georgia

If you are truly a history buff, you must take a family vacation in Savannah. It is one of the most historical cities in this part of the country.

Old Fort Jackson happens to be the oldest brick fortification in the entire state that is still in one piece. You will find this fort on the Savannah River. It is best to take a tour of the fort and the surrounding area during your family vacation in the southeast.

Consider visiting these Stranger Things filming locations during your family vacation in Georgia.

Roosevelt’s Little White House State Historic Site in Warm Springs, Georgia

A visit to this historic attraction in Georgia will have you learning quite a bit about President Roosevelt and the town.

The spring waters here are said to have healing qualities. So, take the time to soak in one of the springs, while talking and laughing with your family.

When you are not soaking in nearby springs, you can check out the Memorial Fountain, the Walk of Flags and Stone, and the Unfinished Portrait.

Check out these other incredible destinations in the southeast for a family vacation.

Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Park in Hodgenville, Kentucky

As you are considering a family vacation in the southeast, you will find yourself wondering which areas are worthy of your time. Well, Hodgenville, Kentucky may not be at the top of your list at first. Until you realize that Abraham Lincoln was born there.

You will find a replica of the house that Abraham Lincoln grew up in at 2995 Lincoln Farm Road. This replica currently serves as a memorial building.

The Sinking Spring is near Lincoln’s childhood home. That spring is what brought water to Lincoln’s home all those years ago.

Elkmont Ghost Town in Gatlinburg, Tennessee – Unique Family Vacation in the Southeast

Family Vacation in the Southeast? Make Memories at These Historic Sites - Elkmont Ghost Town in Tennessee

Elkmont Ghost Town is quite the historical destination in Tennessee. And since it is supposedly haunted, your family will quickly put it near the top of your list of places to consider for your family vacation in the southeast.

The Little River Lumber Company turned Elkmont into a logging town. And then vacation homes were eventually constructed on this land.

However, once the national park was established, the residents needed to obtain leases on the homes they owned. Since the leases expired back in 1992, many of the homes have been left vacant. That turned the area into its own little ghost town. While a few houses were demolished, others are in the process of being restored and renovated for people to see.

Check out these other ghost towns in the southeast.

The Cabildo in New Orleans, Louisiana

The Cabildo was the colonial government building constructed by the Spanish government back in the late 1700s. Currently, it is home to the Louisiana State Museum.

Of course, The Cabildo isn’t the only interesting place to see during a family vacation in the southeast. Other attractions on your family vacation itinerary should include Mardi Gras World, Jackson Square, and the French Market.

Don’t forget to stroll around the different quarters. And eat beignets by the dozen!

Peaches Corner Café in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – Perfect Family Vacation in the Southeast

Family Vacation in the Southeast? Make Memories at These Historic Sites - Peaches Corner Cafe

So, I couldn’t give you a list of historical places to visit without adding one that serves food! The Peaches Corner Café opened back in 1937. And it has been serving up local cuisine since that time!

This charming and historical café is on Ocean Boulevard. While their breakfasts are good, it is their lunches that will have you going back for more!

You can easily eat at this cafe numerous times during your family vacation in the southeast if you choose to spend time in Myrtle Beach.

Planning a family vacation in the southeast during the winter months? Check out these amazing activities that will have you creating memories to last a lifetime.

Rainbow Row in Charleston, South Carolina

Rainbow Row used to be a rundown area after the Civil War. It was restored and turned into one of the most beautiful landmarks in the city. You will find this Charleston historic attraction over on East Bay Street.

These are some of the best historic sites you must check out when planning your family vacation in the southeast. Some of them offer more history than others. Since there are so many, you can easily choose the ones you want to see the most. Those alone will fill your itinerary. And you will have plenty of time for the sun and the sand at the beach too!

Click here to learn a few fun facts about South Carolina for your next family vacation.

Are you ready to add a little history to your next family vacation in the southeast? I have so many ideas for you! Let’s set up a time to talk today, so you can be down in the southeast sooner than later. After all, these years with your family are precious, and you won’t want to miss a second!

The Greatest Gift: Time Together During Fun Family Adventures

Remember, the cost of not taking these trips isn’t measured in dollars, but in missed moments and unshared experiences. While coordinating multigenerational travel may seem challenging, the alternative, letting these precious opportunities slip away, is far more costly.

Today’s busy world rarely gives us chances to truly connect across generations. These adventures create spaces where phones are forgotten, stories are shared, and bonds are strengthened. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Create it now by taking the time to plan a family adventure with the people you love the most.

Why Book with a Travel Advisor for Your Next Family Adventure?

Tracy Schatz

A skilled travel advisor like myself will become your family’s greatest ally in creating these multigenerational experiences:

  • I understand the unique needs of different age groups
  • I can arrange special accommodations for elderly family members
  • I know which resorts offer programs for children while adults enjoy their own activities
  • I handle the complex logistics of getting everyone where they need to be

The Time is Now

Here’s the truth every family eventually faces. These opportunities don’t last forever. Children grow up and build their own lives. Grandparents age and the window for creating these shared experiences gradually closes. Don’t let “we should do this someday” become “I wish we had done this while we could.”

The magic happens in these shared moments. When grandfather and grandson spot their first whale together. As three generations summit a gentle hill for a spectacular view. Or when the whole family gathers for a meal after a day of varied adventures. These are the stories your family will tell for generations to come.

Remember: The memories you create together today become your family’s stories tomorrow. Don’t wait to start writing them.

Ready to plan your family’s next great adventure? Contact me today so I can create an experience that brings your whole family together while accounting for everyone’s needs and abilities. The perfect time for family adventure isn’t someday – it’s now.

Garlic has been around for at least six thousand years. It has come quite a distance from its native Asia. This pungent seasoning adds quite the flavor to many different types of cuisine. People following the Mediterranean diet use garlic the most while cooking. If you don’t cook with garlic, attending a garlic festival can help you find ways to add this ingredient to many of your dishes.

China ships the most garlic worldwide. However, South Korea, India, Russia, and Egypt ship it out as well. Many people choose to eat lots of garlic, because it is a known source of vitamins A, B-1, and C. It is also full of magnesium, calcium, and iron. This smelly herb can lower cholesterol and high blood pressure, while also allowing a person to overcome colds and fatigue.

While you may use garlic for some of your daily cooking, you may not know everything you could about this amazing superfood. This is where the many different local garlic festivals come into play.

National Garlic Day is in April. However, many garlic festivals are not held on that day. This means you can enjoy a garlic festival or two throughout the year as you travel for a culinary family vacation.

Garlic Festivals to Visit During a Culinary Family Vacation

Old Mistick Village Annual Garlic Festival

Garlic Festivals to Visit During a Culinary Family Vacation - Olde Mistick Village in Mystic CT

Attending the Old Mistick Village Annual Garlic Festival in Mystic, Connecticut is quite fun. You will find everything garlic related in Olde Mistick Village.

Farmers bring garlic, and fresh produce, to sell, while local restaurants serve up some tasty foods filled with garlic. Add in all the shopping opportunities and you will have a day-long event to keep you busy.

Stop into Clyde’s Cider Mill to watch apple cider being made. Then grab a gallon or two to take back home with you. Or drink while eating a slice or two of pizza from Mystic Pizza.

Midwest Garlic Festival

The Midwest Garlic Festival is in Terrapin Park in Elizabeth, Illinois. This free event allows you to purchase garlic from local farmers, as well as the fresh produce they bring.

There are many food vendors sharing how to prepare different foods with garlic. Many of those foods are for sale.

Music plays in the background, as you are wandering around, so do not be surprised if you start dancing with others who are in attendance. Although, your kids may roll their eyes, as you dance with strangers during your family vacation!

Maine’s Garlic Festival

Maine’s Garlic Festival is at Lake George Regional Park. When you are not enjoying the garlic and other foods, you can spend time playing a few games or listening to music. There is also an art exhibit to wander through before you leave.

I can easily add this garlic festival to your itinerary for your family vacation in Maine.

Gilroy Garlic Festival

Garlic Festivals to Visit During a Culinary Family Vacation - Gilroy Garlic Festival in California

The Gilroy Garlic Festival is at Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy, California. This outdoor festival offers more than two tons of garlic within the food that is served. There are also three stages of live entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, and a children’s area.

Of course, there are so many other activities you can do with your family while you vacation in this area of California. Allow me to personalize your itinerary, so you create memories to cherish for a lifetime.

Want to experience a culinary family vacation internationally? Check out these festivals in Ireland!

Minnesota Garlic Festival

The Minnesota Garlic Festival is on the McLeod Country Fairgrounds. This is a family-friendly event that is full of garlic, food, and fun!

The farmers within this state grow more than seventy different varieties of garlic and it is used in everything there, including ice cream. You may want to skip tasting the ice cream, but honestly, you should try it! You may be surprised at just how good it is.

Check out the culinary scene in Portland during your next family vacation.

China Bend Winery Garlic Faire

The China Bend Winery Garlic Faire is at the China Bend Winery in Kettle Falls, Washington. This garlic fair has been going strong for more than twenty years now. When you are not tasting the garlic, you can listen to music and drink some fine wine.

And since this is a winery, the kids will have plenty of space to play and have fun on their own during your family vacation.

Asheville WNC Garlic Fest

The Asheville WNC Garlic Fest is at Sow True Seed in Asheville, North Carolina. Garlic ice cream, garlic fudge, garlic cookies, and honey fermented with garlic are available to eat.

Make sure you check out all the food trucks, so you can find the garlic foods you love the most!

Click here to see all the amazing things you can do with family during a vacation in Asheville, NC.

These are only some of the local garlic festivals in the US throughout the year. While none of them are on National Garlic Day, you can still enjoy garlic when you attend any of them. If you are looking for something different on your next culinary family vacation, you may want to visit an area near one of these garlic festivals. I can personalize your itinerary, so you have an amazing family vacation while making memories with the people you love!

Cruising is one of the most exciting and seamless ways to travel. Imagine waking up in a new destination each day, unpacking just once, and enjoying all the amenities of a luxurious floating resort. Whether you’re drawn to the tranquil charm of river cruises or the expansive adventure of ocean voyages, your first cruise promises to be an unforgettable experience.

But where do you start? As a first-time cruiser, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all the options. That’s why I’ve created this step-by-step guide to help you navigate your first cruise with ease. Let’s set sail!

How to Cruise for the First Time: Your Ultimate Beginner’s Guide

Why Cruising is the Ultimate Vacation

Cruising offers a blend of relaxation, exploration, and luxury that few other travel styles can match. Whether you’re gliding through Europe’s iconic rivers or sailing the high seas, every cruise is designed to deliver adventure and comfort in equal measure.

  • River Cruises: Ideal for cultural enthusiasts who want to explore charming towns and historical landmarks. These smaller ships offer a cozy, intimate experience.
  • Ocean Cruises: Perfect for those who love vibrant cities, tropical islands, and the energy of larger ships packed with activities and entertainment.

No matter your preference, cruising is the ultimate way to experience multiple destinations without the hassle of constant travel logistics.

Step 1: How to Choose the Right Cruise for You

The foundation of an amazing cruise experience starts with choosing the right type of cruise.

  • River Cruises: Picture yourself gliding down the Rhine, Danube, or Seine, stopping at picturesque villages and cultural gems. River cruises are all about immersion—perfect for travelers who value history, cuisine, and local traditions.
  • Ocean Cruises: Think of expansive ships sailing through the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, or Alaska. These cruises cater to those who enjoy variety, from exploring exotic destinations to indulging in onboard entertainment.

To decide, consider your travel style. Do you want a peaceful, cultural journey or a lively adventure with endless options?

Cruising with family? How to choose the perfect cruise for your next family vacation!

Step 2: Selecting the Perfect Cruise Ship

Cruise ships come in all shapes and sizes. Finding the right one can elevate your experience.

  • River Ships: Smaller, more intimate vessels that dock close to city centers. Onboard, you’ll find cozy dining, enrichment programs, and panoramic views.
  • Ocean Ships: Larger ships with amenities like theaters, pools, spas, and a variety of dining options. These ships often feel like destinations in themselves.

Think about how you want to spend your days onboard. Whether it’s lounging by the pool, enjoying cultural lectures, or indulging in gourmet meals, there’s a ship for you.

Step 3: Choosing the Best Cruise Itinerary

The itinerary is the heart of your cruise, shaping the destinations you’ll explore and the experiences you’ll have.

  • River Cruises: Perfect for those who want to immerse themselves in the culture and history of destinations like Vienna, Budapest, or Paris. Each stop offers authentic experiences that connect you with the local way of life.
  • Ocean Cruises: Great for travelers who want to cover a lot of ground. From island-hopping in the Caribbean to exploring ancient ruins in Greece, ocean cruises provide diverse adventures.

Pro Tip: Review itineraries carefully and choose one that balances your must-visit destinations with time to relax onboard.

What you must know for your first European cruise.

Step 4: Packing Tips for First-Time Cruisers

Packing for a cruise is all about being prepared without overpacking. Here’s what you need:

  • Versatile Clothing: Pack layers that transition easily from casual excursions to dressier evenings.
  • Essentials: Don’t forget your passport, sunscreen, and comfortable walking shoes.
  • Extras: A refillable water bottle, a daypack for shore excursions, and a lightweight jacket are always useful.

Remember, most cruises have laundry services, so you can pack lighter and still feel prepared.

Step 5: Making the Most of Shore Excursions

Shore excursions are the highlight of any cruise, giving you the chance to explore your destinations up close.

  • Research the excursions available for each port of call.
  • Choose activities that match your interests, whether that’s a guided walking tour, a wine tasting, or kayaking in Alaska.
  • Book popular excursions in advance to secure your spot.

Don’t forget to leave time to wander and soak in the local atmosphere—it’s often the unscripted moments that become the most memorable.

Big ship or small ship for cruising in Alaska? Learn how to choose the best option for your next vacation.

Step 6: Timing Your Cruise Perfectly

When you cruise can make a big difference in your experience.

  • River Cruises: Spring and fall offer ideal weather and stunning landscapes.
  • Ocean Cruises: These are great year-round, though it’s best to avoid hurricane season (June to November) for Caribbean itineraries.

Choosing the right time ensures you’ll enjoy smooth sailing and breathtaking scenery.

Step 7: Connecting with the Crew and Fellow Travelers

One of the joys of cruising is the opportunity to meet new people. Take time to chat with the crew—they’re a wealth of knowledge about the ship, destinations, and even insider tips for excursions.

Fellow passengers can also add to your experience. Swap stories over dinner or during excursions, and you might leave your cruise with lifelong friends.

Step 8: Savoring Onboard Dining

Dining on a cruise is more than just a meal—it’s an experience.

  • River Cruises: Enjoy local-inspired dishes that reflect the region you’re traveling through. Imagine savoring fresh pastries in France or hearty schnitzel in Germany.
  • Ocean Cruises: From casual bites to fine dining, the options are endless. Many ships even offer specialty restaurants with globally inspired cuisine.

Mealtimes are also a chance to connect with fellow travelers and share stories about your adventures.

Your First Cruise Awaits

Taking your first cruise is an adventure like no other. From selecting the perfect ship and itinerary to exploring incredible destinations, every step of the journey is an opportunity to create unforgettable memories.

So, whether you’re dreaming of a peaceful river cruise or an exciting ocean voyage, the time to set sail is now. Let me help you plan the perfect first cruise experience that’s tailored just for you.

Multigenerational vacations are becoming the new normal. Parents love to spend time with their kids. And grandparents love to spend time with their grandkids. This is why multigenerational families can be seen exploring destinations together all over the world. If you have been craving this type of family vacation, you may be wondering where you could possibly visit. After all, you want every generation to have an amazing time. And you want to make memories you can all cherish forever. Well, I have discovered ten different multigenerational vacation ideas you may want to consider for your next trip.

Multigenerational Vacation Ideas for Families

National Parks in Utah – Spend time in nature with this multigenerational vacation idea

Multigenerational Vacation Ideas for Families - Virgin River Running Through Zion National Park in Utah

You may not know this, but Utah has five incredible national parks. Those parks are Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Zion. Each of the national parks in Utah are perfect for exploring the great outdoors as a family.

Canyonlands is the best option for day hikes. Canyoneering is possible at Zion National Park. And year-round activities for all generations are available at all five national parks in Utah.

This multigenerational vacation idea will have you exploring the national parks you want to see the most!

Surf Camp in Costa Rica

Does everyone in your family want to learn how to surf? Or do you all already know how to surf? If you said yes to either of those questions, then a family vacation at surf camp in Costa Rica should be at the top of your list.

As a travel advisor, I can arrange for lessons along the Nicoya Peninsula or in Tamarindo. Expert surfers can surf in those areas as well. When you’re not riding the waves, you can hike to waterfalls or relax amongst the lush landscape.

This is the perfect multigenerational vacation idea for those families who want to enjoy time together. Plus, you can also have a little time to yourselves.

African Safari

Multigenerational Vacation Ideas for Families - Gorilla Trekking Briefing

An African safari is a travel bucket list item for many families. That’s not surprising since watching wild animals roam, and run, through the African savanna is so exhilarating.

There are numerous safaris in Africa. I can share the ones that are best for your multigenerational family during our planning session.

Once we know which safari is best for you, I can determine where you will stay, and which family activities will be part of your adventures. And don’t worry, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, cheetahs, zebras, and wildebeests will always be a part of your days.

Gorgeous African destinations to consider for your next multigenerational vacation.

Biking Holiday in France – An active multigenerational vacation idea

Everybody knows the city of Paris is walker friendly. But did you know parts of France are also biker friendly? And by biker, I mean cyclist. Your multigenerational family can easily pedal alongside Brittany’s Emerald Coast. It is during that journey where you can visit the towns of St. Malo and Dinard.

You may even choose to bike ride through the Loire Valley to sample all the amazing wines. No matter which option you decide on for your next multigenerational vacation, you will make memories you will remember forever.

See why river cruises are one of the best multigenerational vacation ideas for families.

Outer Banks in North Carolina

The Outer Banks has long been known as an incredible multigenerational vacation idea destination for families. Every multigenerational family can choose their favorite spot amongst the two hundred miles of barrier islands.

When you are not spending time on the sandy beaches, there are plenty of other family activities to keep you all busy. Consider taking a dune buggy ride to see the wild horses on Ocracoke Island. Other family adventures include golfing, biking, and kayaking.

Dude Ranch

Has anyone in your family ever wanted to know what it was like to live and work on a farm? Well, one of my favorite vacation ideas for multigenerational families is vacationing at a dude ranch. There are a few different dude ranches to choose from in the US. I can help find the best one for your multigenerational family during our planning session.

During your stay at the dude ranch, your family will enjoy horseback riding lessons and s’mores over a campfire. Along with dozens of other farm-related activities every day.

US Railway Vacations

Seeing the sights of the US from the windows of a moving train is exactly what some multigenerational families need. I love recommending this vacation idea option to those multigenerational families who have a few extra days to spend together.

It is easy to take a train to your vacation destination and then fly home. And during your journey on the train, you can see so many sights you wouldn’t be able to see from the air.

On a train ride from Chicago to the Pacific Northwest, you can follow part of the route that Lewis and Clark walked. And the Rocky Mountains are the highlight of a train ride from Chicago to Emeryville, California.

Check out these other US multigenerational vacation ideas for your next trip.

Pennsylvania History Trail

Multigenerational Vacation Ideas for Families - Gettysburg in Pennsylvania

History-loving families will want to spend quite a bit of time exploring Pennsylvania. There is so much history in this state. Which is why I always offer it as a multigenerational vacation idea. As your travel advisor, I can plan your vacation, so you have time to see it all.

You can start with the Civil War at Gettysburg National Military Park. And your journey can conclude in Philadelphia, where the Declaration of Independence was signed.

Road Trip in New Zealand

New Zealand is normally a must-see vacation idea destination for multigenerational families. And many of those families include a vacation here with one over in Australia. When you arrive in New Zealand, you can explore the country in many ways. However, you may prefer to take a road trip.

There are numerous routes you can follow to see mountains, glaciers, lakes, and beautiful countryside. During your journey, you can stop when you want to see the sights, take family photos, and create a few memories to cherish in the future.

European Yacht Charter – A unique multigenerational vacation idea

The Mediterranean, Aegean, Ionian, and Adriatic Seas offer some of the most sparkling blue water in the world. One of the best ways to see these seas, and the islands amongst them, is to take a yacht charter.

Your family will love island hopping in Greece. Or sailing near the shoreline of Croatia. You can also sail around the entire country of Italy. As you can see, the possibilities are endless when you decide to spend time with your family on a yacht in Europe.

These are ten multigenerational vacation ideas for families. Each one offers the chance to make memories with every generation.

Happy holidays! Today is a day to cherish time with family and friends. Hopefully, you have been doing that for a while now and will continue to do so throughout the new year. While you can make amazing memories at home with your family, and friends, there is nothing better than heading out on a family vacation during the holidays. There are so many destinations around the world that will have your whole family filled with the Christmas spirit. Today, I am sharing my favorite destinations for getting into the Christmas spirit. One of them should make it to the top of your list for the holidays next year. Then we can work together, as I personalize your itinerary and fill it to the brim with Christmas spirit for next year’s holiday season!

Amazing Vacation Destinations Filled with Christmas Spirit for Your Family

Nuremberg, Germany – The Best European Destination for Christmas Spirit

If you want to visit one of the best Christkindlmarkt in the world, you must go get into the Christmas spirit in Nuremberg, Germany. The Nuremberg Christkindlmakrt is one of the oldest Christmas markets in the country. The market opened in the 1600s.

During a visit to the market, you can shop for gifts. Or eat some of the holiday foods that include gingerbread, bratwurst, and mulled wine. There are so many local Christmas traditions you can participate in with your family too!

Christmas markets like this one can be found within the town squares in this city and the rest of the country. If you want to see more of them during your family vacation over the holidays, I recommend taking a Christmas market river cruise in Germany. It’s one of the best ways to see multiple markets, as well as numerous destinations in the country.

Check out these other European Christmas markets for your family holiday vacation.

New York City, New York – Best Local Destination for Christmas Spirit

Amazing Vacation Destinations Filled with Christmas Spirit for Your Family - Rockefeller Center in New York City at Christmas

New York City is always a vibrant place to visit. But this city really lights up around the holiday season. There is so much to do while embracing the Christmas spirit in the city.

Start by checking out the decorations in the windows at Macy’s. Then head to Rockefeller Center to see the massive Christmas tree. Do a little ice skating on the rink or take a horse and carriage ride through Central Park.

Of course, no Christmas in New York City is complete without watching a performance by the Rockettes. Their show, Christmas Spectacular, is at Radio City Music Hall. I also recommend shopping at the Christmas market in Bryant Park.

Rovaniemi, Finland

Rovaniemi is part of Lapland in Finland. It is considered the home of Santa Claus. This cold and wintery destination is the perfect place to visit to get into the Christmas spirit. You can visit with Santa and his elves at Santa Claus Village.

I recommend spending at least one night in an igloo. They are perfect for watching the Northern Lights from the comfort of your bed.

Vienna, Austria

Another amazing destination filled with Christmas markets is Vienna. The oldest Christmas market in Vienna opened in the 1200s.

During your visit to the market, you can play games, like curling. Listen to holiday music, eat holiday foods, and do a little holiday shopping. The kids will love participating in the cookie making workshops.

North Pole, Alaska

Amazing Vacation Destinations Filled with Christmas Spirit for Your Family - Santa Claus House in Alaska

If you have always wanted to visit Alaska, there is no better time than during the Christmas season. This city in Alaska celebrates the holidays all year long.

When you arrive at the North Pole, you will see streets like Santa Claus Lane, Kris Kringle Drive, and Blitzen Drive. I recommend putting the Santa Claus House at the top of your list of places to see. You will find plenty of Christmas spirit there. The entire place is packed to the ceiling with souvenirs, ornaments, and even letters to Santa.

Another fun thing to do is attend the Christmas in Ice Festival. Your family will love the ice sculptures and ice slides.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen looks like it came right out of the pages of a storybook. But during the holidays, this city really turns into a Christmas fairytale destination.

The kids will love visiting Tivoli Gardens. It is an amusement park that is decorated with lights and other holiday displays. Another popular thing to do in Copenhagen is visit the different Christmas markets. They are everywhere and they all have Christmas décor, ornaments, and mulled wine.

Montreal, Canada

The Christmas spirit begins in Montreal with the Defile de Pere Noel. This is a Christmas parade that began more than seventy years ago. The rest of the month features fireworks, lighted décor on the streets, and a few unique Christmas markets.

These are some of my favorite destinations for getting into the Christmas spirit with family. You can choose from other destinations too, so don’t feel like you are stuck with one of these options. After all, I will be able to personalize your family’s itinerary no matter where you decide to visit for the holidays.

So, are you ready for me to create a personalized family vacation itinerary for your trip to get into the Christmas spirit?

The fall weather is arriving in many parts of the US. If you are not a fan of the cold, you may be dreaming about your next family beach vacation. Especially if you prefer to sink your toes in the sand instead of a pile of leaves or a snow pile. Thankfully, you can start planning your next family beach vacation now. One of the best times to enjoy sandy beaches is on National Beach Day, which is August 30. However, you do not need to limit your vacation options to that single date. Instead, you can choose to visit one of the best beaches during the vacation dates that work best for your family. Today, I am sharing the best beaches for family vacations.

National Beach Day – Best Beaches for a Family Vacation

Hot Water Beach on the Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand – An Amazing Destination for Celebrating National Beach Day

National Beach Day – Best Beaches for a Family Vacation - Hot Water Beach in New Zealand

Hot Water Beach is one of the best beaches to visit for family vacations. There are volcanoes near this beach. And those volcanoes created large underground reservoirs that are now filled with extremely hot water. The water slowly seeps to the surface, still feeling quite hot when it gets there.

Your family can easily access these hot springs during low tide. I recommend taking a shovel with you, so you can create your own mini spa in the middle of paradise.

Oh, and the seasons in New Zealand are opposite what we have here in the US. Therefore, you will love a family vacation there on National Beach Day. Since it will be winter, the hot water at this beach will feel amazing!

Byron Bay in Australia

Surfing is popular at this beach in Australia. In between waves, your family can wander through the bookstores. There are plenty of cafes for grabbing a bite to eat. And pubs for when you need a pint or two.

I recommend visiting with your family during the Byron Bay Bluesfest. Yes, it will be more crowded. But the experience, and music, are worth the memories you will make with your family.

Arashi Beach in Aruba

Arashi Beach is located on the northern side of Aruba. The sands are basically untouched since ships are no longer sailing too close to this area.

One of the best things to do at this beach is snorkeling. There is a four-hundred-foot German freighter wreck not too far from the shoreline. Venture out to the shipwreck with your family and see what you can all discover together.

Punalu’u Beach in Hawaii – Celebrate National Beach Day in Paradise

Punalu'u Beach in Hawaii - A Black Sand Beach

There are multiple beaches on the Big Island of Hawaii. But none of them will compare to Punalu’u Beach.

Yes, you will need to walk for approximately twenty minutes along a wooded dirt trail to reach this undeveloped beach. The black sand you reach will be worth every step. And possibly the moans and groans from the kids who may not want to walk that far.

Snorkeling is a popular family activity at this beach. Make sure you take your gear, so you can be out amongst the turtles, dolphins, and whale sharks.

Punalu’u Beach is an amazing beach to visit for National Beach Day. However, there really is no bad time to visit paradise on any of the Hawaiian Islands during a family vacation.

Diani Beach in Kenya

Diani Beach is more than twelve miles long. Palm trees line the sandy shoreline and provide just enough shade.

Kite surfing is popular at this beach. Lessons are available if your family wants to learn.

Oh, and while there are hotels and supermarkets nearby, there is one other thing that is so much better. Monkeys are everywhere on this beach. So, be prepared for an encounter or two.

Imagine taking a few family photos with monkeys dotting the background. Think about the comments you will get if you send that out as your next holiday card!

Trunk Bay in St. John in the US Virgin Islands – No Passport Required to Celebrate National Beach Day at Trunk Bay

St. John is a beautiful destination on its own. But when you visit Trunk Bay, you will discover a beach that looks better than the postcard pictures in a store.

The sand is soft. This is perfect for sinking your toes in the sand. And the blue water will add to your fun in the sun. There isn’t a better place to celebrate National Beach Day!

I recommend heading into the water and snorkeling. All the things you see underwater are labeled with plaques. That means you will know what everything is during this family adventure.

Natadola Beach in Fiji

Horseback Riding on the Beach at Sunset

It can be difficult to choose the best Fiji Island for your family’s vacation. But if you happen to be near Natadola Beach, you must spend the day there.

You can swim all day and all night. Although, I recommend taking a horseback ride at sunset. It really adds to the experience. And the memories you will make.

Sun Island Beach in Maldives

Celebrities and honeymooners can often be spotted on this beach in the Maldives. However, that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying a fabulous family vacation there.

You will discover an amazing coral reef nearby. So, grab your snorkeling gear and check out the marine life.

Matira Beach in Bora Bora in Tahiti

Matira Beach is such a perfect beach. It is a little hard to believe it is real.

Your family can spend hours relaxing on the sand during your beach vacation. Or you can search for black pearls. Check out the World War II memorabilia. And feed the sharks.

Whatever you decide to do to make memories during this family vacation.

Anse Source d’Argent in La Digue in Seychelles

You will find this beach in Seychelles on the island of La Digue. The white and pink sand creates a sparkling destination for sinking your toes in the sand.

The water is nice and calm at Anse Source d’Argent. It is the perfect destination for swimming and snorkeling. Oh, and you will see many other families celebrating National Beach Day if you decide to visit then.

Copacabana Beach in Brazil

Copacabana Beach is one of the most iconic beaches in the world. It is also the place to be on New Year’s Eve every year.

That one night of the year is when the beach is packed with no room to move, as the party continues all night long.

Although, this beach is crowded most of the time. Keep that in mind if you decide it is the best beach to visit for your next family vacation. Especially if you visit on National Beach Day.

Mohegan Bluffs in New Shoreham in Rhode Island

You must plan your family beach vacation at Mohegan Bluffs carefully if you want fun in the sun and warm weather. This beach in on Block Island. So, you must take a ferry to get there.

When you reach the top of the bluffs, there are one hundred forty-one steps down to the sand. Yes, it is a lot of work for a beach day. But it is worth it to spend a little time away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland.

Reynisfjara Beach in Iceland – Perfect Place to Sink Your Toes in Black Sand for National Beach Day

National Beach Day – Best Beaches for a Family Vacation - Reynisfjara Beach in Iceland

Iceland has a few incredible beaches. Reynisfjara happens to be one of the best beaches to visit for National Beach Day.

It has deep black sand, offshore rock formations, and a massive cave. Nearby is the village of Vik. That village is where the Icelandic Lava Show is held.

Your family can also go on glacier hikes and take ice cave treks in Vik. Talk about a family vacation with lots of different family activities for making memories!

These are some of the best beaches to visit around the world for National Beach Day. One of these beaches will be perfect for sinking your toes in the sand during a family vacation!
