Planning a memorable family vacation where everyone can enjoy themselves can be a challenge. But in 2025, the best destinations for multigenerational travel are making it easier than ever to create unforgettable experiences for the whole family. Today, I am sharing some family friendly vacation destinations with you. These destinations offer sun-soaked beaches, cultural experiences, and outdoor adventures. Basically, something for everyone in your family to enjoy, while creating lifelong memories. Let’s start exploring the top destinations that cater to multigenerational travelers.

Best Destinations for Multigenerational Travel in 2025: Top Family Friendly Getaways

Alaska – Best Destination for Multigenerational Travel in 2025

Best Destinations for Multigenerational Travel in 2025: Top Family Friendly Getaways - Family Near a Glacier in Alaska

One of the best destinations for multigenerational travel in 2025 is Alaska. A vacation in Alaska promises adventures filled with discovery, shared experiences, and lasting memories.

There are quite a few options for how your family experiences this state. You can simply fly to one of the major cities. Or you can cruise to different ports.

If you choose the latter, I recommend small ship cruises. These cruise ships can reach areas where the larger cruise ships can’t reach. Plus, your family will receive more personalized experience options like kayaking near glaciers and guided shore excursions.

Other activities to consider during your family vacation in Alaska include dog sledding, wildlife viewing in Denali and Kenai Fjords National Parks, and guided tours of glaciers.

Another fabulous way to explore Alaska is to take a ride on the Alaska Railroad. This train travels almost five hundred miles throughout the state’s spectacular landscape. Your family can disembark at the numerous stops to participate in activities.

Check out these bucket list destinations in Alaska for your next family vacation.

Galapagos Islands

The Galapagos Islands are a dream destination for many travelers. So, if you are traveling with multiple generations, you might as well choose a dream destination for creating memories!

Once-in-a-lifetime adventures can be experienced during a vacation in the Galapagos Islands. Plus, I can help arrange family friendly and eco-friendly tours for your multigenerational vacation.

Consider a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station to learn about conservation as a family. Island hopping excursions allow everyone to see more of the islands, while exploring diverse ecosystems together.

Of course, you won’t want to skip snorkeling with sea lions and spending time with giant tortoises while on vacation with your family in the Galapagos Islands.

Use my travel guide to the Galapagos Islands for your multigenerational vacation.

Lisbon, Portugal

Best Destinations for Multigenerational Travel in 2025: Top Family Friendly Getaways - Tram 28 in Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon is a city that offers charm, cultural activities, and family friendly activities. Which is why it is one of the best destinations for multigenerational travel in 2025.

I recommend starting with a ride on Tram 28 to check out the city’s neighborhoods. This is an excellent way to learn where restaurants and attractions are located throughout the city. After all, you never know when you will see something interesting to return to later.

The whole family will love spending time at Oceanário de Lisboa. This is one of the largest aquariums in Europe. You should plan on spending at least a few hours there, as you all check out the marine life.

A family friendly Fado show is an excellent way to listen to traditional Portuguese music during your vacation.

Banff, Canada

You won’t need to travel too far from the US to experience one of the best family-friendly vacation destinations in 2025. Banff, Canada offers year-round family fun. And this year, there are more family oriented outdoor activities within Banff National Park.

The entire family will love riding the Banff Gondola. Check out incredible views during your ride. There are also interactive exhibits that will capture everyone’s attention.

Everyone should be able to walk the trails at Johnston Canyon. These are easy scenic walks that are ideal for families.

If you want to see this area of Canada from a different perspective, go canoeing on Lake Louise. No matter what you do during your family vacation in Banff, keep an eye out for bears, elk, and mountain goats. Wildlife is everywhere in this area, so it is almost guaranteed you will see something.

Sydney, Australia

Sydney, Australia is one of the best destinations for multigenerational travel in 2025. Although, you can visit anywhere in this country with your family and have an amazing time.

If you want to start your vacation in Sydney on a more relaxed note, I recommend taking a Sydney Harbour cruise. This is an excellent way to see the city’s sights from a different perspective. Plus, you get to relax after your long flight.

While younger kids may not appreciate the cultural aspects of the Sydney Opera House, you should still take the time for a behind the scenes tour. If a performance is happening during your visit, the grandparents can enjoy it one night. Or the grandparents can watch the kids while the parents attend.

A day at the beach is a must while on a family vacation in Australia. Bondi Beach is one of the best beaches for families. While you can spend the entire day on the sand building sandcastles, there are other options. Consider a coastal walk. Or take the family-friendly surfing lessons that are offered.

Check out these other family friendly activities in Australia for your vacation.

Yellowstone National Park

Family Walking Around the Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park

There are sixty-three national parks to visit in the US. However, Yellowstone National Park is one of the best family friendly vacation destinations. This is because there are plenty of activities your family can do outdoors during your vacation.

I recommend taking one of the wildlife safaris to see bison, elk, and bears. The guides will ensure you don’t miss any of the wildlife that lives within this national park.

The kids will love the engaging activities offered with the junior ranger programs. And parents and grandparents will love learning along with the kids or sharing the knowledge they already have.

Some hikes in Yellowstone National Park may be too difficult for older adults or those with limited mobility. Thankfully, you can drive to sights like the Old Faithful Geyser. You will need to time your visit properly though, or you will miss the eruption of this geyser.

Costa Rica – Unique Best Destination for Multigenerational Travel in 2025

Eco-adventures and nature-filled experiences will bring your family closer during a vacation in Costa Rica. The activity that should be at the top of your list during your family vacation in Costa Rica is visiting Arenal Volcano National Park. You can hike along the trails there before soaking in the natural hot springs.

Depending on the time of year you visit, your family may be able to witness sea turtle nesting in Tortuguero National Park. This unforgettable moment happens between July and October each year. However, peak activity occurs between July and August.

Guided wildlife tours are available in the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Ziplining adventures are another option in this area of Costa Rica.

The kids will beg for time at the beach during your Costa Rica vacation. The beach Manuel Antonio is your best option. The kids can play in the gentle waves, while the adults relax on the sand.

Barcelona, Spain

Is your family searching for diverse activities for your multigenerational vacation in 2025? If you are, I recommend adding Barcelona, Spain to your list of places to visit. Barcelona offers a vibrant mix of architecture, culture, and beachside fun.

Adults can wander around Park Güell to see the whimsical designs of Gaudi. The kids can climb and play during this time, so they won’t be bored as the adults marvel at what they see.

When everyone gets hungry, I recommend going to La Boqueria Market. This market has a lively atmosphere. And you can try many of the local delicacies, which ensures you will no longer be hungry. Oh, and those samples may get your kids to try new foods they wouldn’t try back home.

If your family has the energy to stay out later one night, head over to the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc. The light and water show at this fountain will captivate the attention of everyone in your family.

There will be plenty of time for you to lounge on a beach while on a family vacation in Barcelona. However, the most family friendly beach is Barceloneta Beach. So, you may want to choose to visit that one the most during your vacation.

Check out the best things to do in Barcelona during your multigenerational vacation.

Hawaii

Multigenerational Family on the Beach While on Vacation

All the Hawaiian Islands are perfect for family vacations. However, it is important you decide which Hawaiian Island is perfect for your multigenerational vacation in 2025. I usually recommend Maui and Oahu. But we can discuss which islands will best fit your family’s needs.

Pearl Harbor Memorial is usually one of the favorite attractions for a Hawaiian family vacation. This tour will share many invaluable insights into that historical time.

Interactive experiences showcasing Hawaiian traditions can be seen at the Polynesian Cultural Center. And there is no better way to explore the Molokini Crater than going on a snorkeling adventure.

Surfing is a popular activity in Waikiki, and the rest of Hawaii. Adventurous members of your family will want to take lessons, while the others sit back and watch.

Rome, Italy

Imagine visiting a destination where you can experience the past each day, while enjoying delicious cuisine in between each stop. It is completely possible when you choose to take your multigenerational vacation in Rome, Italy. Plus, this best family friendly vacation destination promises enhanced guided tours and family friendly museums for 2025.

I recommend having me secure your spot for a Colosseum tour while I am planning your multigenerational vacation. This will ensure you can skip the line when you arrive. And you will get to enjoy an interactive tour filled with gladiator stories that will thrill each family member.

I can do the same for Vatican City, so you don’t spend most of your time waiting in line. This will give you more time to admire the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica.

A bike ride through the Villa Borghese Gardens will allow you to see a beautiful spot in the city. I recommend bringing a picnic lunch with you to extend your time in these gardens.

There are plenty of cooking classes you can take while on a family vacation in Rome. If your kids are old enough, you can all take one together to learn how to make fresh pasta.

London, England

Harry Potter fans will love going on vacation to London, England. So, if your kids are hesitant to spend time with you and their grandparents, tell them you are going on a Harry Potter adventure. Their moods will change dramatically. Especially when you have me schedule a Harry Potter Studio Tour for your family.

I can also arrange tours of London, so you can all see Big Ben, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, and Kensington Gardens. Over at the Tower of London, take the interactive tours to ensure history is brought to life for your family.

A day of rest can be experienced in Hyde Park. You can all enjoy a family picnic or go paddle boating.

Orlando, Florida – Popular Best Destination for Multigenerational Travel in 2025

You must have known that Orlando would be on this list of best destinations for multigenerational travel in 2025. After all, it is home to Disney World and Universal Studios.

There are new attractions and activities coming to both these theme parks in 2025. Grandparents will feel nostalgic, as they take the grandkids on the rides they took you on when you were little. Teens will love the thrilling ride options. And you will all stand and wave, as characters walk by during the parades.

Over at Discovery Cove, you can swim with dolphins and snorkel in tropical lagoons. Creating memories will be easy when you take the time to visit with the marine life at Discovery Cove.

There are plenty of nearby attractions to consider when you take a family vacation in Orlando. Kennedy Space Center is one of those attractions. This is an excellent option for anyone who dreams of flying to the moon one day.

Check out these amazing things to do in Orlando during your next multigenerational vacation.

When it comes to planning a memorable vacation that caters to all ages, the best destinations for multigenerational travel in 2025 offer something for everyone. These destinations create opportunities for families to bond, learn, and relax together. Whether your family prefers cultural experiences, outdoor adventures, or simply soaking up the sun on the beach, these family friendly vacation spots ensure every generation has an unforgettable experience. I recommend considering these remarkable destinations to create lasting memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Cartagena is now a vibrant and welcoming destination rich in history, culture, and charm. Whether you’re wandering through its colorful streets or soaking in the beauty of its coastal views, Cartagena is a place that will captivate your senses during a family and friend getaway.

One of the top attractions in the city is the iconic San Felipe Castle (Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas). This castle is a 16th-century fortress that stands as a testament to the city’s colonial past. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a must-see for history enthusiasts. The castle is a sprawling complex of walls, ramparts, and underground tunnels.

Are you searching for one of the best family travel destinations for your next trip? Canada is an amazing country. And you can visit there during the spring, summer, fall, and winter. However, some of the best memories you will make will occur during the winter months in Canada. This is when you can take advantage of the plethora of Canada’s top winter adventures and destinations. Today, I am going to share some of these winter adventures with you. At least one of them should have you ready to plan a family travel itinerary in Canada.

Canada’s Top Winter Adventures and Destinations

Seeing Polar Bears is the Top Winter Adventure in Canada

Coca Cola has created a marketing genius out of the frosty white polar bears. They are found in the colder climates of the North. You will find polar bears in Canada, Russia, Greenland and Norway mostly. A few can even be found in Alaska.

While they appear white in color, it’s actually a reflection of their surroundings. Polar bear fur is actually more translucent, allowing them to blend in better. Polar bears, when all four paws are on the ground stand about 3.5 to 5 feet tall. However, if you ever meet one while it’s standing up on its back legs – look out. That polar bear can stand as high as 10 feet or taller.

Not quite as cozy and cuddly as Coca Cola makes them appear. In fact, they are one of the deadliest bears in the world.

If your children have got you curious about Polar Bears, or you’re looking for an adventure in the North, then you won’t want to miss out. Churchill Manitoba is Canada’s favorite place for this winter adventure. Plus, it is a great place to explore the open tundra from the back of a Tundra buggy. Head out on a ride in search of these majestic animals.

You will see them splashing in the water. Walking across the icy landscape. Or fishing for lunch. It is amazing to witness these spectacular creatures up close, in the wild. Free to roam in nature.

Experience the Northern Lights

"</p

Looking for another wonder to explore? How about the Northern lights? These dancing lights are considered Canada’s top winter adventure!

When I first heard about these, I had to ask if they truly were real. A friend of mine who lives in Canada has described them to me. And while my last visit to Canada failed to produce a viewing (I was a few weeks too early), she shared photos and stories.

Most often you will see shades of greens and yellows to white lights dancing across the skies. However, on the truly vibrant nights, you will even see blues, pinks, purples and reds.

The lights can dance slowly where you need to watch closely to see them move all the way through. Or they can dance with such intensity that they snap and crack like a flag in the wind.

She tells me there is nothing like parking on an old country road, in the quiet of the countryside, and listen to the northern lights dancing. You can actually hear the snap and crack. The lights can even fill the whole sky from one horizon to the next, or just a short window to the side.

Either way it is right up at the top of my bucket list during my next family vacation in Canada!

The Northwest Territories

Canada's Top Winter Adventures and Destinations - Sled Dogs

I recently discovered the most amazing trip in Northern Canada is the Northwest Territories. You can take a dog sled ride out to the middle of nowhere to watch the northern lights in the wide-open sky. Not to worry – they have warm layers to keep you toasty warm.

Everyone wants to know what causes Northern Lights. The real answer is, when gaseous particles in the atmosphere collide, their atoms react creating a spectacular light show. I like to think that it is just an amazing magic show the universe creates just for us.

Don’t worry, you can see this winter adventure in Canada anywhere you visit. So, don’t think you need to stick to the northwest regions of the country.

The Canadian Rockies

Years ago, my family took a trip to the Rocky Mountains. My family and I made our way to Alberta to explore the Canadian Rockies. We spent time in Lake Louise, Banff and Jasper.

The crystal-clear water of Lake Louise had been calling my name for years. I’m so excited I finally got to see it up close and in person.

Hiking, exploring glaciers, watching for animals and so much more, was all on the agenda for our family. While this vacation was filled with lots of activity and adventure for us, the Canadian Rockies is also a great destination for a couple’s escape.

Imagine cozying up in front of a crackling fireplace while the snow gently and softly falls outside. This is one of Canada’s winter adventures I can easily do. Plus, I’m pretty sure this is where the heart of every Hallmark movie is dreamt up.

Spend your mornings out in the crisp fresh air hiking. Then take a gondola ride up the mountain for the afternoon.  Spend the evening cuddled up by the fire. Talk about an escape to reconnect with the one you love the most.

Check out these amazing activities in the Rocky Mountains during the winter.

Canadian Culture

Want to experience some Canadian Culture? Then you will want to explore the events that this region has become famous for.

Grab your best western duds and favorite cowpoke for the Calgary Stampede. Get ready to witness the most spectacular coastline fireworks show at Vancouvers’ Celebration of Lights.

You definitely won’t want to miss the star-studded TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival). Toronto is also home to the biggest and best Caribbean Festival of Canada.

Montreal is home to Just for Laughs. A 10-day long comedy festival featuring some of the best up and comers alongside the most seasoned comedians. Then there is the Montreal Jazz Festival.

In the winter you can check out the Quebec Winter Carnival or the Winterlude in Ottawa. Winterlude even includes skating along the Rideau Canal. This creates the world’s longest skating rink. These are two of the best adventures to have during the winter in Canada.

For the truly brave, you may even want to consider the annual polar bear plunge. This is where brave (I have a different word, but I’ll stick with brave) Canadians and tourists alike, cut a hole into the ice, and plunge into the frigid waters in the middle of winter. They do this while only wearing a bathing suit. They say it’s absolutely invigorating, but it certainly isn’t for everyone. You’ll find Canadians doing this on New Years Day mostly and for many it’s tied to a charity event.

A polar plunge may not be the Canada winter adventure you are looking for. However, you must admit, it will get your heart racing!

Check out these other winter events around the world!

So, are you ready to have me personalize a family vacation itinerary for you that includes these Canada top winter adventures?

Montreal is a beautiful city in Canada. There are plenty of things to do in Montreal throughout the year. However, the best time to take a family vacation in Montreal is during the summer months. This is when you can explore this magnificent city without worrying about extreme cold and snow. The best part is everyone is outside during this time of the year. This makes it perfect for meeting more of the locals, as you make memories together as a family.

Best Things to Do in Montreal

Grab a Bite to Eat at Time Out Market Montreal

Do you have a family of picky eaters? Or does everyone simply want something different at mealtimes?

Well, the Time Out Market Montreal will be the answer you have been looking for all these years!

This forty thousand square foot culinary destination can be found in the Centre Eaton de Montreal. There are dozens of eateries, as well as six bars.

Your family can even attend cooking school to learn how to prepare new meals. Talk about one of the amazing ways to make memories while on vacation. The best part is you can easily make even more memories when you start cooking together at home!

Head to the Beach

Okay, so Montreal may be a city. However, it is a city on an island. So, take advantage of that fact and relax on a beach for a couple of hours.

There are a few different beaches to choose from in Montreal. You can find a couple in Old Montreal. Other beaches are just a metro ride away.

Have Fun at Mount Royal Park

Best Things to Do in Montreal - Beaver Lake in Mount Royal Park

Mount Royal Park can be found just to the north of the downtown area. During the summer months, this is a wonderful place to have a picnic and play. If you happen to visit during the winter months, fun is still available. You can easily go skiing or tobogganing once the snow falls.

A few of the best places to see inside this park include the Sir George Etienne Cartier Monument, Mount Royal Cross, Beaver Lake, and Mount Royal Chalet.

Take a Ride on the La Grande Roue de Montreal

This is the largest Ferris wheel in all of Canada. Your family will want to take a ride on this Ferris wheel to see panoramic views of Mount Royal Park and the rest of the city.

I recommend riding in gondola number forty-two. You will need to upgrade to the VIP package for this. However, that gondola has a glass floor, as well as Italian leather seats.

Experience Art at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts was founded back in 1860. Thousands of visitors from around the world check out the permanent collection every year. So, trust me, you won’t be disappointed with the forty-three thousand works of art on display.

A favorite section of the museum is the one that holds the Napoleon collection. You may want to visit that area first to avoid the crowds.

Go Shopping at Marche Jean-Talon

This open-air market is one of the largest ones in North America. You will find this market in Little Italy. It is open year-round. The vendors have their spaces stocked with fruits, vegetables, baked goods, meat, and so much more.

Explore Science at Space for Life

Space for Life is a massive natural sciences museum complex. Your family can explore the Biodome, Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, Insectarium, and Botanical Garden during your visit.

I recommend trying to visit when the Gardens of Light lantern festival is held at the Botanical Garden. It is quite a sight to see.

Visit Saint Joseph’s Oratory

Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal is a stunning Catholic Basilica. This is a pilgrimage site that is visited by more than two million people each year.

This impressive architectural delight should be near the top of your list of best things to do in Montreal.

Walk Along the Lachine Canal

Best Things to Do in Montreal - Lachine Canal

This canal flows through numerous residential neighborhoods in Montreal. One of the best ways to see all those neighborhoods is to walk along the canal.

You don’t need to walk the entire canal in one day. You can easily explore parts of the Lachine Canal throughout your family vacation in Montreal.

Oh, and if walking along the canal is not enough, head out on a kayaking adventure.

Take an Old Montreal Walking Tour

If your family doesn’t want to explore Old Montreal alone, you can always take one of the walking tours. One of the walking tours focuses on the east side of the city, while the other focuses on the west. Each walking tour is ninety minutes long. You can easily do them both in one day. Or tackle one at a time during your vacation.

These walking tours of Old Montreal are the perfect way to learn about the history of the city.

Wander Around the Montreal Botanical Garden

The Montreal Botanical Garden, or Jardin Botanique Montreal, is an excellent place to wander around. Each garden is filled with different types of plants and flowers. One of the favorite gardens for kids is the toxic plant garden. Maybe because the smelly odors are right up their alley!

Visit the Barbie Expo

If you have daughters, and they played with Barbies, you must check out the Barbie Expo in Montreal. This is the largest permanent collection of Barbie dolls in the entire world. There are more than one thousand Barbies on display.

Eat a Sandwich at Schwartz’s Deli

Schwartz’s Deli is one of the oldest restaurants in Montreal. And for good reason!

They cure their meat for ten days before smoking it. The meat is then sliced to make delicious sandwiches that people travel miles to purchase.

Biting into one of these sandwiches is definitely one of the best things to do in Montreal.

Visit the Underground City

The Underground City in Montreal is twenty miles of corridors underneath the streets. These corridors connect offices, banks, restaurants, stores, hotels, and transportation terminals.

This labyrinth type area is the perfect place to escape if you happen to be on vacation in Montreal during the winter.

Enjoy a Treatment at Bota Bota

Bota Bota is a luxury spa in Montreal. It is located on an old river ferry in Old Port. Prior to your scheduled treatment, you can relax in the sauna before diving into a cold bath. Or simply relax in a hammock until it is your turn to be pampered.

This is one of the best things to do in Montreal while the kids are with your spouse on another adventure.

These are only some of the best things to do in Montreal during a family vacation. There are many others that can be put on your list of things to do in Montreal, as I am personalizing your family vacation.

Are you ready to head out on a family adventure and make a few memories with your kids? Maybe you’re finally ready to use some of those vacation days waiting for you before you lose them? If you said yes to at least one of those questions, Toronto may be a great place to consider for your family trip. There are so many things to do in Toronto. It is simple to add many of the best attractions in Toronto to your itinerary. In fact, I can do just that as I am personalizing your family vacation in Toronto. Today, I am going to share some of the best attractions in Toronto with you. This will ensure you get a head start while thinking about all the ways you can bond with your kids during this incredible time away from home.

Best Attractions in Toronto

Head Up to the Observation Area on the CN Tower

The CN Tower is one of the best attractions in Toronto. It actually towers above the downtown area. So, you can’t miss it even if you wanted to!

One of the best ways to experience this attraction is by heading up to the observation area. There are a couple of different levels to choose from. The highest observation level is the Sky Pod. You must take two different elevators to reach this level.

The LookOut level has floor to ceiling windows. The Glass Floor level has an actual glass floor to look down through.

An observation area that isn’t as popular is the Edge Walk. You can walk on a wide ledge on the outside of the main pod. This is a hands-free experience. However, you are attached to a safety harness and rope. If the kids want a few thrills, this may be the best option for your family!

I recommend dining at the 360 Restaurant, which offers views directly from your table. This restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. If you choose to dine here, you will receive access to the LookOut and Glass Floor levels right from the restaurant.

Visit the Royal Ontario Museum

This museum in Toronto opened back in 1914. Inside, your family will discover numerous permanent collections. One exhibit is full of dinosaurs while another hold crystals. Pay close attention to the Michael Lee-Chin crystal. It was added to the museum in 2007.

It can take half a day to see everything within the Royal Ontario Museum. Keep that in mind while planning your itinerary for your family vacation in Toronto.

Explore the Distillery District

Best Attractions in Toronto - Distillery District in Toronto

The Distillery District is the oldest industrial neighborhood in Toronto. You won’t find distilleries there now though.

Instead, this neighborhood is full of cafes, boutiques, restaurants, and art galleries. They are all housed in restored Victorian buildings. This is one of the best places to walk around in Toronto, while finding souvenirs to take back home.

Check Out the Marine Life at Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada

Marine life is everywhere inside Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada. One of the best places to see it all inside the aquarium though is the Dangerous Lagoon. There is a moving sidewalk there. It happens to be the longest moving sidewalk in all North America!

Stand on the moving sidewalk and watch as the fish and sharks are fed. Jelly fish, rays, and other marine life can be found throughout the other exhibits.

Your favorite part of the day though might be when the divers enter the water to interact with the animals. These dive shows are scheduled throughout the day. I recommend finding out the times for the day of your visit and then planning your day accordingly.

Eat Street Food Fusion at Kensington Market

The street food fusion is the best at Kensington Market. Everyone in your family can try something different. Or you can order a few dishes and share amongst yourselves.

In between bites of food, you can shop at the second-hand vintage boutiques or walk around the colorful streets.

If you happen to be at the market during Pedestrian Sundays, you can join in on the lively street party.

Explore the Scarborough Bluffs

The Scarborough Bluffs can be found right along Lake Ontario. The bluffs are massive cliffs that loom high above sandy beaches and the sparkling water of the lake.

This is one of the best areas for family photos. Or your next Instagram-worthy selfie!  No wonder it is on my list of the best attractions in Toronto!

Head Out to the Toronto Islands

Best Attractions in Toronto - Toronto Islands - Centre Island

There may be a time when your family wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of Toronto. When that happens, I recommend heading out to the Toronto Islands.

These small islands are full of sandy beaches, biking trails, and a small amusement park. The best part is you can catch a ferry throughout the day from the main ferry terminal in the harbor.

While I recommend spending an entire day on the Toronto Islands, you can head over for a couple hours. It all depends on how full your itinerary is for your family vacation in Toronto.

Learn About Science at the Ontario Science Center

Did you know that 97% of parents say their kids learn something new about them while on vacation? Why not take that to the next level by having everyone learn something new at the Ontario Science Center?

Imagine what you can all learn while exploring the indoor rainforest or watching a movie in the OMNIMAX dome theater. Or as you are having fun inside the science arcade.

There is no limit to the laughs and memories you can have with your family while visiting this best attraction in Toronto.

Enjoy a Picnic at High Park

You will discover a few parks in Toronto. However, if you want to visit the largest park, you must head over to High Park. This park has been a favorite of the locals and visitors since the 1800s.

Your day can be spent walking the trails, checking out the views, and taking family photos. Or you can simply spread a blanket on the grass and enjoy a picnic lunch.

The choice is always yours and I can make your vacation dreams come true as I personalize your family vacation itinerary in Toronto.

Head Down to Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is a fabulous place to visit during a family vacation. You could honestly spend a few days in Niagara Falls either before or after your family vacation in Toronto.

However, if you only have a day to spend, you can easily venture down there from Toronto. You can choose to drive yourself or I can arrange for a guided tour. Most of the tours include a Niagara Cruise, which takes you close to the water of the falls.

When you are in Niagara Falls, you won’t want to miss stopping at the Floral Clock or the Whirlpool Rapids. The charming town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is another place you may want to visit if you have the time.

And I know Niagara Falls isn’t one of the attractions in Toronto. However, it is an incredible place to visit and make memories with your family.

Grab a Bite to Eat at the St. Lawrence Market

If you love going to farmer’s markets, you must check out the St. Lawrence Market when you are in Toronto. This is an excellent place for purchasing fresh meat, cheese, and produce. You will also find specialty items and flowers for sale.

Of course, if you want a full meal, some vendors will have you covered with ready to eat options. Or you can just grab a cup of coffee before sitting down to do a little people watching.

Take a Tour of Casa Loma

Best Attractions in Toronto - Casa Loma

Sir Henry Pellatt had this castle constructed back in 1914. There are almost one hundred rooms inside this castle. Three dozen of those rooms are bathrooms.

I don’t know about you, but I would love to have that many bathrooms in my home. Especially when we have a houseful of kids, and the lines are long! Although, cleaning them all would not be fun!

Anyway, you can see many of those bathrooms, as well as decorated suites, towers, and stables. Oh, don’t forget to keep your eyes open so you don’t miss the secret passages or the eight-hundred-foot tunnel.

Watch the Fun at Yonge Dundas Square

New York City has Times Square. Las Vegas has The Strip. And Toronto has Yonge Dundas Square.

This is a popular gathering spot in the city. You can grab a spot at one of the seating areas. Finding one by the dancing fountains is best, so you can enjoy the views.

Concerts are held within this square during the summer months. I recommend checking out the schedule to see if you are interested in attending one during your family vacation in Toronto.

Wander Around Little Italy

Do you love eating Italian food? If you said yes, a trip to Little Italy in Toronto should be near the top of your list of things to do. You will find Little Italy surrounding Collect Street.

There are plenty of Italian restaurants to choose from in Little Italy. You can dine in one or simply walk along the wide sidewalks.

Take the time to check out the statues of famous Italians that are scattered along the Italian Walk of Fame.

Check Out the Bata Shoe Museum

Do you love shoes? Does your daughter love shoes?

If you said yes, then a visit to the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto is a must!

Inside the Bata Shoe Museum, you will find shoes that date back forty-five hundred years all the way through now. There are fourteen thousand other artifacts mixed in with the shoes.

Some of the more popular shoes you will see include Elton John’s silver platform boots, Queen Victoria’s ballroom slippers, and Elvis’ blue patent loafers.

Step Back in Time at the Black Creek Pioneer Village

Over at the Black Creek Pioneer Village, your family can learn how people lived in the 1860s. There are more than forty historical buildings to see. In and around those buildings are costumed interpreters, who go through the daily routine people would have had more than one hundred years ago.

Imagine the shock on your kids’ faces as they watch people doing laundry and cooking the old-fashioned way!

Visit the Hockey Hall of Fame

Hockey lovers will enjoy spending a little time inside the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. You can all walk into a replica of the Montreal Canadians’ dressing room and see a collection of memorabilia. The highlight of your visit though will be seeing the original 1893 Stanley Cup.

Take Selfies at Graffiti Alley

One of the best places to take selfies in Toronto is Graffiti Alley. You can also take family photos near the painted windows and doors.

You will find this alley near Queen Street West and Richmond Street West.

These are the best attractions in Toronto. You can add many of them to your itinerary, along with other attractions your family wants to see. I can easily create a personalized itinerary for your family trip to Toronto after we have a planning session. I use that session to learn more about your family’s likes and dislikes, so I can create a fantastic vacation everyone will love.

Dogsledding has long been the way to get to faraway areas in colder climates. Yet many people think of the Iditarod when they hear the word dogsledding. If you are looking for a family vacation that will check an item off a destination bucket list, I have just the thing. Taking the time to go dogsledding in Canada’s wilderness will check off all your boxes. It’s an amazing experience and a chance to make unique memories with your family. Plus, it will allow you to see some of the most remote places in Canada.

What to Pack and Wear for Dogsledding in Canada’s Wilderness

You must dress appropriately if you want to go dogsledding in Canada. Warm clothes, waterproof boots, hats, and warm gloves are a must. It is best to dress in layers to keep the cold out. Your innermost layer should be wool or another synthetic material. Polar fleece is excellent over synthetic material. If you don’t have that, think of clothes that are cozy and warm, plus insulated.

Your outer clothes should all be waterproof and windproof. This is for both the top and bottom. Failure to wear these outer clothes will have you being wet and cold before you even start your dogsledding adventure.

Prior to Your Dogsledding in Canada’s Wilderness Adventure

Before you climb onto the dogsled and venture out, you will learn a few things. First, you will learn how to harness the dogs. Once they all have their harnesses on, you will stage the dogs and learn the commands you will need to drive them.

Once you have completed those things, you will finally be ready to head out on your own dogsledding adventure!

Where to Go Dogsledding in Canada’s Wilderness

Dogsledding in Whistler, Canada

There are many places to go dogsledding in Whistler, Canada. One of the best tour options, though will have you heading into the Callaghan Valley. This open area has many winding trails. That means you will need to stay alert when the open space turns curvy. There are plenty of places to stop and take pictures when you are dogsledding in Whistler, Canada. You may want to make sure you remember the command for a stop if you want to take advantage of them all during your journey!

Dogsledding in Yukon, Canada

There are quite a few dogsledding tours available in Yukon, Canada. Not all of them are offered year-round, though, so you must plan your vacation in Canada carefully. It is best to spend an entire day when dogsledding in the Yukon. This will ensure you see as much of the area as possible. Of course, the Yukon is where you can spend a whole week with the dogs during a camping trip. If dogsledding in Canada has been a lifelong dream or is something your kids will love, you may want to go all out with the weeklong adventure!

Dogsledding in Banff, Canada

Dogsledding tours in Banff, Canada, can have you exploring areas like the Great Divide Trail in no time at all. You may even want to choose to cross over the frozen Spray Lakes if you plan your family vacation in Canada properly. If a full-day dogsledding adventure in Canada is not your thing, you can always choose a half-hour ride. It will offer a glimpse into what dogsledding is really like and may have you wanting more afterward.

Dogsledding in Ontario, Canada

Most of the dogsledding tours in Ontario head over to Algonquin Park. The dogsledding trails are just outside the park. There is plenty of room for when you make a mistake with a command. You can even pull over to grab pictures when you see something photo-worthy. Each dogsledding tour is almost all two hours long, which is the perfect amount of time for learning the ropes.

Are you ready for a family vacation that will have you dogsledding in Canada’s wilderness? While you might not be totally onboard yet, I guarantee your kids will be! Think of the time they can spend loving the sled dogs and learning all about them. There are usually even sled dog puppies to see, depending on when you decide to take your vacation in Canada.

Let me help you plan a vacation your family won’t be able to resist. Don’t worry, I’ll have your back with a spa treatment or two. You’ll have plenty of time to relax and unwind when you are not out dogsledding with your family!

So, are you ready to book a vacation to go dogsledding in Canada with your family??

If you have been longing to experience the Northern Lights firsthand with your family, you will be thrilled to know you can see this phenomenon right here in North America. Yes, you read that right! You don’t need to travel thousands of miles to see these lights dance across the nighttime sky. Start reading to see where you can see the Northern Lights in North America during your next family vacation.

A Guide to Northern Lights in North America

Fairbanks, Alaska

Fairbanks is known as Aurora City. The reason for this is the town is located directly underneath the Auroral Oval. Another reason is Fairbanks hardly ever have precipitation. So, the sky is almost always clear on the nights when the Northern Lights are out in abundance.

The only times you can experience the Northern Lights in Fairbanks is from the month of August through April. As long as your family vacation in Fairbanks is at least three nights long, you have a ninety percent chance of seeing the Northern Lights.

You can see the Northern Lights in Fairbanks on your own. Or I can plan for your family to take one of the many fabulous tours.

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada

Yellowknife is also located directly underneath the Auroral Oval. If you want to have one of the best chances to see the Northern Lights during your family vacation, you may want to choose this destination. Especially since there are more than two hundred nights to see the spectacular lights every year.

If you choose to visit between the middle of August through the end of September or from the middle of November until early April, you can see the lights. The first couple of months is seasonably warm, while the latter months are much colder and snowier.

Churchill, MB, Canada

Over in the Canadian town of Churchill, you can see the Northern Lights during a few months of the year. The best months to see the lights are between August and September or the end of January through April.

This is an excellent destination to see an abundance of wildlife during the day. So, if your family loves polar bears and other wildlife, this may be the perfect option for your next family vacation.

Idaho Panhandle National Forest, Idaho

Idaho is a state that normally gets a bad rap and is often known as potato country. But it is one of the best places to see the Northern Lights in North America. Prime viewing time is between the months of September and March. While you can see the Northern Lights from a few different locations, Priest Lake is often the best. Just make sure you choose a clear, dry night to head out to see these magnificent lights in Idaho.

These are the best places to see the Northern Lights in North America. If these lights are on your travel bucket list, but you don’t want to travel too far to see them, choose one of these destinations. The result will be making ample memories with your family.

So, are you ready to check out the Northern Lights in North America on your next family vacation?

If you said yes, I would like to invite you to schedule a planning session with me by clicking here. When you click on this link, you will be taken directly to my digital calendar to schedule a time that is convenient for you.
