Are you searching for a way to create unforgettable bonds with your grandkids? Exploring the best national parks for grandparents and grandkids during a multigenerational vacation is one of the best ways to create lasting memories. There are quite a few family-friendly national parks. Many of those parks are packed with kid approved activities. You can hike along easy trails. Spot wildlife. Or enjoy a relaxing picnic while sharing stories. Today, I am sharing some of the best national parks for kids with you. So, get ready to discover stunning destinations that bring generations together to create memories that will last a lifetime.

Best National Parks for Grandparents and Grandkids: Family Friendly Outdoor Adventures

Yellowstone National Park – An Amazing National Park for Grandparents and Grandkids

Best National Parks for Grandparents and Grandkids: Family Friendly Outdoor Adventures - Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone is one of the best national parks for grandparents and grandkids. This captivating national park offers real-life science lessons at every turn. And yet, your grandkids won’t realize they are learning something during your multigenerational vacation.

You can’t visit Yellowstone National Park and not take the time to watch Old Faithful erupt. There is no steep hiking required to reach this geyser. So, check out the eruption times for the day of your visit. Then watch the magic happen right in front of your eyes!

The grandkids will love participating in the Junior Ranger Program at Yellowstone. Help them complete the activities, so they can earn a badge.

Of course, you can’t skip past some of the other must-see destinations within this family-friendly national park. I recommend taking the time to check out the Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone Lake, and Mammoth Hot Springs.

Check out the best things to see in Yellowstone National Park for your next multigenerational vacation.

Acadia National Park

If you are looking for the best national park for kids on the east coast, I recommend Acadia National Park. This beautiful park offers mountain views combined with gorgeous views of the nearby ocean.

Wander around the carriage roads within this national park for grandparents and grandkids. No cars are allowed on these roads. So, they are perfect for walking and biking. Jordan Pond Path is another scenic trail that is perfect for little, and older, feet.

Kids of all ages will love searching for sea creatures while tide pooling at Bar Harbor. You can watch your grandkids having fun with the sea creatures, as you drink your coffee. Or you can get into the water with them to create even more memories.

If your grandkids are early risers, watch the sunrise from Cadillac Mountain. It’s an amazing way to start your day.

Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon National Park is at the top of almost everyone’s list of destinations to visit. You may be tempted to skip this national park for this reason. However, as one of the best family friendly national parks in the world, you will regret that decision.

The South Rim is your best option for a multigenerational vacation. Everyone will love walking along the mostly flat and paved Rim Trail.

During a ride along Desert View Drive, you can stop at historical sites and scenic overlooks. And the kids will love riding the old-fashioned train from Williams to the canyon on the Grand Canyon Railway.

The Junior Ranger Program at the Grand Canyon is quite interactive. The kids will spend hours completing the activities to earn their badge.

When the kids want to purchase souvenirs to take home, venture over to Hopi House or Lookout Studio. They offer the best souvenirs.

And if you stay at the Grand Canyon until later in the evening, head to Mather Point. The sunsets there are incredible.

Great Smoky Mountains – One of the Best National Parks for Grandparents and Grandkids

Best National Parks for Grandparents and Grandkids: Family Friendly Outdoor Adventures - Waterfall in the Great Smoky Mountains

When you are searching for the best national parks for grandparents and grandkids, the Great Smoky Mountains should be near the top of your list. After all, this is one of the most visited national parks in the US. Which isn’t surprising since it is full of waterfalls, wildlife, and wildflowers.

A walk along the paved trail to the Clingmans Dome Observation Tower will lead to amazing views of the park. There are benches at the top. So, you will have places to sit after this slight uphill trek.

The kids will love stepping back in time while visiting the Mountain Farm Museum. And you will all love seeing how people lived and worked back in the 1800s.

Plenty of deer and black bears are visible when you drive along Cades Cove Loop Road.

Other must-see spots within this family-friendly national park include Laurel Falls Trail and the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail.

Check out these other multigenerational vacation ideas.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park – An Excellent National Park for Grandparents and Grandkids

Sometimes you need to fly a little further during your multigenerational vacation to see an incredible national park. Over on the Big Island of Hawaii, you will find lots to see throughout Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. This unique park is packed with cultural heritage, lava tubes, and volcanoes.

Start your visit by exploring the lava fields and steam vents along the Crater Rim Drive. Over at Nāhuku, walk through a real lava tube. I recommend taking flashlights with you to experience the best this lava tube has to offer.

Other must-see destinations within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park include the Halema’uma’u Crater Overlook, Jaggar Museum, and the Kilauea Visitor Center.

Everglades National Park

Animal lovers will want to spend hours within this national park for grandparents and grandkids. I recommend taking at least one of the ranger-led programs. These programs will allow you and your grandkids to learn quite a bit more about the Everglades and the wildlife that lives there.

Gators and birds are everywhere in the Everglades. And you can see many of them during the Shark Valley Tram Tour. The Anhinga Trail is another option if you don’t mind walking to see the local wildlife.

I recommend visiting the Eco Pond at dusk. Bring binoculars to see the different wildlife up close.

Shenandoah National Park

One of the best activities for grandparents and grandkids at Shenandoah National Park is driving along Skyline Drive. This ride offers more than one hundred miles of scenic overlooks.

If you, and your grandkids, prefer walking, venture over to the Limberlost Trail. This accessible loop will take you through a lush forest. Plus, there are other birdwatching, and wildflower walks you will enjoy for the peaceful moments they give you.

The hike to Dark Hollow Falls is a little steep. However, it is manageable for many people. And at night, head over to Big Meadows to stargaze or capture a firefly or two.

Check out the best destinations for multigenerational travel for 2025.

Rocky Mountain National Park

A visit to Rocky Mountain National Park is a breathtaking experience for people of all ages. I recommend starting your journey through this family-friendly national park by visiting the Alpine Visitor Center. It is full of educational exhibits that share what you need to know about different areas of this park.

If you are searching for something unique to do during your multigenerational vacation in the Rocky Mountains, let me recommend a drive along the Trail Ridge Road. It is one of the highest paved roads in the US. So, it will feel like you are driving on top of the world.

Walking along Bear Lake Loop will allow you to take numerous Instagram-worthy pictures. This loop is flat and only a mile long. Therefore, even your youngest grandchild should be able to walk it without a problem.

Other must-see destinations within this national park include Sprague Lake and Moraine Park.

Exploring national parks with your grandkids is more than just a vacation. It’s an opportunity to create stories that span generations. These national parks for grandparents and grandkids offer the perfect mix of scenic beauty, kid-friendly adventures, and accessible fun for everyone. Each national park will invite you to slow down, reconnect, and experience the magic of the outdoors.

A road trip in Alaska is a beautiful way to discover a state filled with glaciers, wildlife, and outdoor adventures. It is the perfect destination for family vacations because there are so many adventures you can all have together. There are a few different ways to explore Alaska. You can cruise around the waters on a large or small ship. You can even fly from one destination to the next.  But one of the best ways to see this incredible state is by taking a road trip.

Road Trip in Alaska: Plan Your Next Family Vacation

Why a Road Trip in Alaska?

There are so many reasons to take a road trip in Alaska! But let’s stick to the top four so you can move on to everything else you must know about taking a road trip in Alaska for your next family vacation.

Take Time to Stop and Smell the Roses

Okay, so you won’t always be seeing roses in Alaska during a road trip. But a road trip in Alaska will allow you to stop to see everything you spot along the way. And to do whatever you want when you want.

You won’t need to keep to a specific schedule. That means you can spend more time in one place and less time in another. It will all be dependent on what everyone in your family wants to do.

Change Your Plans Whenever

Do you know how you always think it will take less time to do something and more time to do other things? Well, a road trip in Alaska will allow you to change your plans whenever you need to.

Therefore, you can skip over places that don’t look as interesting as you thought and add time to the ones your family decides they love.

Visit Non-Touristy Destinations

Cruises and tour groups will almost always take you to all the touristy places in Alaska. When you venture out on a road trip in Alaska, you can choose to visit all the non-touristy destinations.

And don’t worry, I will help you find the ones that your family will truly love! To get a head start, check out these festivals that Alaskans love.

Take Pictures and Videos at Every Stop

Since you won’t be on a strict schedule, you will be free to take pictures and videos at every stop you make during your family vacation in Alaska. Think of all the memories you will have to look back on with your family in the future!

Check out these bucket list destinations in Alaska you can visit during your next family vacation.

What to Pack for Your Road Trip in Alaska?

The weather in Alaska can change without warning. Therefore, you must be ready for almost anything on your road trip.

The mornings could be cool, where the afternoons can be a little warmer during the summer. Of course, evenings will cool back down again.

And don’t forget the rain. The winter months will bring sun with snow and ice. Layers will be handy and necessary when you are out and about in Alaska.

Elite Travel Journeys Go-To Items for a Road Trip in Alaska:

  • Fleece Jackets and Waterproof Jackets
  • Quick Dry Hiking Pants
  • Hiking Poles – Lightweight and Collapsible are Perfect for Packing
  • Hiking Shoes (Waterproof) and Warm Boots
  • Binoculars
  • Hats, Gloves, and Scarves
  • Blankets – to Keep in the Car Just in Case of an Emergency
  • Sunglasses
  • Wool Socks
  • Thermals
  • Mosquito Repellant
  • Device with GPS
  • Camera with Charger and Multiple Memory Cards
  • Sunscreen
  • First Aid Kit
  • Bottled Water and Snacks

What is the Best Month for an Alaska Road Trip Vacation?

Road Trip in Alaska: Plan Your Next Family Vacation - Glacier in Alaska

Many people ask me, “When is the best time to plan an Alaskan road trip?”. Well, you can begin the planning process at any time. However, you will want to consider a few things before determining which month of the year you want to visit this amazing destination for your family vacation!

The best month to visit Alaska is actually June and July. But for the truly best time, I recommend going between the middle of June and the middle of July. There are so many reasons why I recommend these dates. But the first one is the fact that the longest day of the year is June 21st. And up in Alaska, that means between eighteen and twenty-two hours of daylight, depending on where you are in the state. Those longer days mean more time to explore this gorgeous area.

Now, if you want to see something specific in Alaska, you will need to really plan your Alaskan road trip carefully. The Northern Lights can be seen from the middle of August through the beginning of April.

Viewing the wildlife is best from May through September. However, May is the best time, because the foliage isn’t lush yet. To learn more about seeing wildlife in Alaska, see my post about spotting wildlife here.

There are numerous festivals in the state of Alaska each year. The Alaska State Fair is held at the end of August. But if you want to attend the Seward 4th of July Celebration, Honey Jam, Sitka WhaleFest, or other events, we will need to plan your road trip in Alaska according to the festival dates.

Reasons to visit Alaska during the fall.

How Many Days Should I Spend in Alaska?

I recommend spending ten days in Alaska if you truly want to get the most out of your road trip. You can spend between five or seven days, but you won’t be able to see as much during your visit. Of course, you can spend two, three, or four weeks in this state on an extended family vacation and see so much more!

Check out this 8-day itinerary for an amazing family vacation in Alaska.

How Far Can You Drive into Alaska?

One of the things you will notice when you are planning your road trip in Alaska is that you can’t drive everywhere you want to. Not all communities and towns are connected by roadways. With that being said, there are approximately fifteen thousand miles of roads you can travel along.

You can reach many of the areas in the middle and southern parts of Alaska by car. Therefore, we can plan for you to visit Anchorage, Fairbanks, Denali, and many other destinations. Juneau is also accessible by car, but you must travel through part of Canada to get there.

Destinations in Alaska like Sitka, Bethel, and Dutch Harbor can only be reached via plane or ferry. No worries, I can easily arrange for that transportation when I am booking your trip.

Is the Alaska Highway Dangerous?

When it comes to driving in Alaska, many people ask me if the Alaska Highway is dangerous. The Alaska Highway is not dangerous. It is actually one of the most famous highways in the state, because of all the different things you can see along the way. This highway is approximately thirteen hundred miles in length, so you can drive along it for quite some time.

Just think of all the memories you can make with your family along that road! The laughs, the arguments, and the question, “Are we there yet?”, millions of times! I get all weepy eyed just thinking about those vacation drives with my kids!

What is the Best Vehicle to Drive in Alaska?

I recommend driving an SUV or a truck for your road trip in Alaska. You can drive a car, but you may not be able to reach everywhere you want to go. SUVs and trucks are known to be able to get up steeper inclines, as well as the rough terrain in some of Alaska’s backcountry areas.

Can You Sleep in Your Car on the Alaska Ferry?

If you do happen to take the Alaska Ferry to a destination you can reach by car, there are a few things you should know. The main one is that you will not be able to sleep in your car during the trip. Once your car is on the car deck, you must head to the upper decks and stay there until you reach your destination.

Driving Tour of Alaska

Road Trip in Alaska: Plan Your Next Family Vacation - Matanuska Glacier

There are many different routes to take during a road trip in Alaska. Whereas one route may be perfect for some people, other travelers like yourself may prefer a different route. It is all about what you want your family to see and experience during your Alaskan vacation.

Alaska Loop Road Trip

The Alaska Loop Road is quite long, so you will want to plan on a few extra days if you are tackling it. The Alaska Loop will take you throughout the southcentral section of the state. It also includes stops within interior Alaska.

This trip will take you from Anchorage to Denali, Healy, Fairbanks, North Pole, Delta Junction, Tok, and the Matanuska Glacier. This is the main Alaska road trip from Anchorage that many people take when they visit Alaska. I can easily personalize the Alaska Loop Road trip to meet the needs of your family.

Kenai Peninsula Road Trip

An adventure along the Kenai Peninsula will have you and your family seeing a lot of southcentral Alaska. During your days on the road, you will find yourself stopping in areas like Whittier, Soldotna, Seward, Kenai, and Homer.

This adventure can be accomplished in a week. But extra days will be appreciated if you choose this route for your family vacation.

Alaska Road Trip from Anchorage – Scenic Drives to Consider

There are many scenic drives you can take from Anchorage. This means you can easily do a road trip in Alaska while having a home base in Anchorage every single night.

Here are my favorite scenic drives from Anchorage:

  • Portage Valley and Whittier Tunnel
  • Turnagain Arm Drive
  • The Seward Highway
  • Arctic Valley Road
  • Old Glenn Highway
  • Eklutna Lake
  • Matanuska Glacier

What National Parks Can You Drive to in Alaska?

There are twenty-three national parks in Alaska. But did you know that most of them are so remote that you can only get to them via plane?

Thankfully, there are three national parks that you can drive to in Alaska. And the best part is they are exactly what you will be looking for during your Alaskan family vacation!

The three national parks you can drive to in Alaska include Denali National Park, Kenai Fjords National Park, and Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Denali is the most popular of the three, due to the massive mountain of the same name.

Many people ask the question, “How do you get to Glacier Bay National Park?”. They often ask this question when they realize it isn’t one of the national parks that can be driven to.

Well, don’t worry, because it isn’t a park you must skip over during your road trip to Alaska. All you need to do is put your car on the ferry and ride over to the park. You must visit Alaska during the summer months though for this adventure because that is the only time the ferry is running.

It can be a little nerve-wracking to go driving in a state you are not that familiar with. Especially one like Alaska, where the next “rest stop” could be hundreds of miles down the road! However, when I plan a road trip in Alaska for you, I will give you everything you need to know to have an amazing time with your family.

At one point in time in the early 1800s, there was quite a network of rooms and passageways around Pioneer Square in Seattle. All the rooms and passageways were covered up when the new city was built in the 19th century. No one used them anymore. However, in recent years, Seattle’s Underground has turned into a tourist destination. Exploring Seattle’s Underground is now the most popular thing to do in the city. The underground area of Seattle looks just as it did years ago when the floods and fires ravaged the city.

Explore Seattle’s Underground During Your Family Vacation

Tours of Seattle’s Underground

Since Seattle’s Underground was left untouched for so many years, it was almost completely forgotten about. However, Bill Speidel realized during the 1960s that he could capitalize on this part of the city. The Seattle Underground Tour was started.

Explore Seattle’s Underground During Your Family Vacation - Seattle Underground Tour

Many other tour options have popped up since that time. However, if you are like most people, you will want to take the tour that started them all!

Getting hungry during your family vacation in Seattle? Check out Pike Place Market!

How Long is the Seattle Underground Tour?

Most of the underground tours take an hour and fifteen minutes to complete. You will walk through the underground area for the duration of your tour. So, comfortable shoes are a must.

What Will You See on Your Tour?

Explore Seattle’s Underground During Your Family Vacation - Pioneer Square in Seattle, Washington

Your family’s tour will begin at Doc Maynard’s Public House. You will then cross through Pioneer Square before climbing down under the earth to Seattle’s Underground.

Your tour guide will share quite a bit of history during your tour. Learning what each area of the underground was used for is included in your family’s tour. Plus, you will also learn about how people used these cordoned-off spaces as gambling halls, flophouses, and so much more.

The end of your tour happens when you arrive at Rogues Gallery and the Underground Gift Shop. There are many different souvenirs for you to purchase.

If you are like many other visitors, you will choose your very own copy of Sons of the Profits by Bill Speidel. This book relives all the information you discovered during your tour. So, you can share it all with your friends back home.

I don’t know about you, but most kids, especially teenagers, love history lessons like these! After all, dark creepy spaces are interesting and full of wonder.

Experience the best things to do in Seattle during your family vacation.

If you are trying to plan your next family vacation to the northwest, you are going to want to add Seattle’s Underground to your itinerary. It’s one of the many fabulous things you can do in Seattle.

So, are you ready to have me create a personalized family vacation itinerary in Seattle or another destination?

Whale watching in Massachusetts is a must for nature lovers. The state offers some of the best whale watching experiences in the US. From Cape Cod to Gloucester, you can witness majestic whales up close. Many whale watching tours in Massachusetts provide expert guides to enhance the experience. Whether you’re traveling with family, or exploring solo, this adventure is unforgettable. Let’s dive into the best whale watching spots in Massachusetts.

Whale Watching in Massachusetts: Where to See Majestic Marine Life

Types of Whales You Will See in Massachusetts

Whale Watching in Massachusetts: Where to See Majestic Marine Life - Humpback Whales Mother and Calf

You will see many different types of whales in Massachusetts. Those whales include fin whales, sperm whales, blue whales, sei whales, and minke whales. However, you will see many more humpback whales than the other whales mentioned above.

Best Time for Whale Watching in Massachusetts

The best time to see the whales in Massachusetts is from the middle of March through early November. However, those dates are not carved in stone. They can change if the water is cooler or warmer than normal.

Cooler waters earlier in the season will mean the whales will swim up to Massachusetts later. Warmer water means they will arrive earlier. Of course, towards the end of the season, if the water gets cooler faster, the whales will leave earlier than they normally do.

Take a day trip to Salem during your family vacation and enjoy some of the best things to do there.

Best Whale Watching Tours in Massachusetts

There are so many tour groups for you to choose from for your whale watching goals in Massachusetts. Each tour group offers something slightly different. However, they all basically guarantee you will see at least one whale during your family vacation.

Hyannis Whale Watcher Cruises

If your road trip vacation takes you out to Cape Cod, you must consider Hyannis Whale Watcher Cruises. This whale watching tour leaves from Barnstable Harbor. Every tour is between three and a half and four hours long.

This tour operator has been offering tours since 1980. They have their favorite whales out in the water. And they are one of the best options for family-friendly whale watching tours in Massachusetts.

Boston Harbor Cruises

Whale Watching in Massachusetts: Where to See Majestic Marine Life - Group Whale Watching in Boston, Massachusetts

Boston Harbor Cruises is one of the best options for whale watching near Boston. These whale watching tours are right from the shoreline in the city. So, you don’t need to travel too far for this type of family adventure.

After you board the boat, you will be taken out to the Stellwagen Bank Marine Sanctuary. In addition to whales, you will also see dolphins and other marine life.

One of the things that sets this whale watching tour apart from all the rest is there is always a New England Aquarium specialist on board. They can be a wealth of information and will answer any questions you may have.

Captain John Boats

This tour company has been taking people like yourself out to see the whales near Massachusetts since 1946. They have two different whale watching tours to choose from. So, you can easily have the experience you want with your family. The first tour goes over to Plymouth, while the other one takes you over to Provincetown.

These are some of the best whale watching tours in Massachusetts. But they are not the only ones. I can help you find the best tour for your family vacation. I will also plan the rest of your Massachusetts family vacation by creating a personalized itinerary.

Embarking on an unforgettable adventure through Alaska’s breathtaking wilderness is a dream for many families. An Alaska cruise offers the perfect way to explore this majestic region. From towering glaciers to serene fjords, every moment on an Alaska cruise brings the opportunity to witness nature’s wonders up close. Wondering how to spot wildlife on an Alaska cruise? Scan the shorelines for brown bears. Watch humpback whales breach dramatically near the ship while sailing to your next port of call. Or spot bald eagles soaring overhead. For families seeking a vacation that blends adventure, education, and awe-inspiring sights, an Alaska cruise offers a front row seat to an extraordinary show.

How to Spot Wildlife on an Alaska Cruise with Family

How to Spot Wildlife on an Alaska Cruise with Family - Wildlife in Alaska

What Wildlife Do You See on an Alaska Cruise?

You will be amazed at how much wildlife you will see on an Alaskan cruise. Some of the animals you will be able to see from the deck of the ship. Other animals will be out of sight until you are on land during an excursion. And there are some animals that may elude you for your entire trip, no matter how hard you try to find them!

Out in the water, you can expect to see:

  • Killer whales
  • Harbor seals
  • Humpback whales
  • Sea otters
  • Sea lions
  • Walruses

On land, you will find:

  • Puffins
  • Mountain goats
  • Bears
  • Bald eagles
  • Dali sheep
  • Wolves
  • Caribou
  • Moose
  • Muskoxen

Some of the animals you might see in the water may also be spotted on land. Harbor seals, sea lions, and puffins spend their time between the water and the shoreline. Obviously, you can see bald eagles flying over the water too.

You may even be lucky enough to see a bear down by the rivers and streams. They spend their time there grabbing salmon to eat.

Oh, and if you are wanting to see polar bears when you are in Alaska, you must plan carefully. These animals only live in the Arctic. That means you must visit one of the coastal Arctic villages to see them in their natural habitat.

What is the best time of year to see wildlife in Alaska?

Honestly, there isn’t a “best” time of year to see wildlife on an Alaska Cruise! The animals are out and visible throughout the year. But you will have an easier time seeing some animals at certain times of the year.

How to Spot Wildlife on an Alaska Cruise with Family in Spring

How to Spot Wildlife on an Alaska Cruise with Family - Orca in Alaska

The months of March, April, and May are considered spring in Alaska. The vegetation has not grown thick after the long winter yet.

That means it is much easier to spot animals like caribou, bears, Dali sheep, and mountain goats. This is also when marine life like whales, seals, and walruses can get closer to the mainland since the ice is melting.

How to Spot Wildlife on an Alaska Cruise with Family in Summer

Bears and other animals can easily be found down by the rivers and streams during the month of June, July, and August. There is an abundance of salmon in those waters and the animals want their fill.

Sea lions and seals give birth during these months too. And that means you will have lots of little baby animals to see!

How to Spot Wildlife on an Alaska Cruise with Family in Fall

September and October make up the short season of fall in Alaska. The bears are still down by the rivers catching the last of the salmon for the year.

The goats, moose, caribou, and muskoxen spend this time of the year mating before heading off to their winter destinations.

How to Spot Wildlife on an Alaska Cruise with Family in Winter

Some of the wildlife in Alaska will move to new areas during the winter months of November, December, January, and February. But that doesn’t mean you won’t see them or at least know they are close by.

You will be amazed at all the tracks you find in the snow. It is best to always keep your eyes open for these animals. You never know where these animals will startle you, as they are looking for a meal in the winter.

If you are craving whale watching opportunities in Alaska, you must visit during the months of April through September. April and May are when the grey whales will begin to arrive in the area.

Killer whales are seen the most in May and June. Beluga whales can be seen quite often during any of the whale watching months in Alaska.

Where to See Wildlife in Alaska?

Below are several of the stops you will enjoy seeing wildlife on an Alaska cruise with your family.

Anchorage

How to Spot Wildlife on an Alaska Cruise with Family - Moose in Alaska

There are so many places to see wildlife in Anchorage. But if you know the best wildlife viewing spots in Anchorage, you will have a better chance of seeing the animals you want to see.

Point Woronzof Road is a secluded area that offers multiple scenic viewpoints. It is also one of the best places to spot a moose in Alaska.

You can also see moose over in Kincaid Park. That fourteen-hundred-acre park is home to bald eagles and bears too.

The Campbell Creek Estuary and Potter Marsh are two other locations the locals recommend.

Don’t forget to venture over to Turnagain Arm in Anchorage too. That is where you will see Dali sheep up on the cliff. And beluga whales in the water.

Check out these bucket list destinations in Alaska for your next family vacation.

Seward

Marine life is commonly spotted in Resurrection Bay in Seward, Alaska. The bay is where sea otters, seals, sea lions, and humpback whales spend their time. You can even see some of those animals from the shoreline.

Icy Strait Point

When you are spending time in Icy Strait Point, you may want to consider heading over to Chichagof Island. The island is part of the Spasski River Valley. This area is known for the large number of brown bears that live there.

Spend time with bears during your family vacation in Alaska.

Juneau

In Juneau, it is common to see bears and other wildlife walking right in town. But you may also want to check out the wildlife you can see at the Macauley Salmon Hatchery, Mendenhall Wetlands, Tracy Arm, and Point Bridget State Park.

Ketchikan

Over in Ketchikan, you can also see wildlife right in the downtown area. But I prefer to spend my time checking out the wildlife on Brown Mountain Road, Settlers Cover State Park, and the Ward Lake Area.

Skagway

Dyea is still the best area to see wildlife when you are visiting Skagway, Alaska. I recommend starting there and then venturing over to the Dewey Lakes Trail System or the Yakutania Point Trail.

Parks in Alaska

Denali National Park in Alaska - McKinley National Park in Alaska

Numerous parks are scattered throughout Alaska. Any one of them would be a perfect spot to see wildlife on an Alaska Cruise. However, there are five parks near Anchorage that offer the best wildlife viewing in Alaska.

Denali National Park is often the top choice for many visitors like yourself. After all, who can resist seeing the massive 20,310-foot mountain inside the park??!

If you can manage to tear your eyes off the mountain, you will have the chance to see more than two hundred animal species. A few animals inside Denali National Park are moose, Dali sheep, wolves, caribou, and black bears.

In Kenai Fjords National Park, it is best to spend most of your time down by the water. The coastline is the perfect spot to see humpback whales, orcas, sea otters, and sea lions. You will also see quite a few puffins and bald eagles in this part of Alaska.

The other three parks that are good options for spotting wildlife include Chugach State Park, Katmai National Park, and Glacier Bay National Park. The latter is the best option if you want to combine wildlife and glacier viewings.

Will You See Wildlife on an Alaska Cruise?

There are so many ways to see wildlife in Alaska. If you are taking an Alaskan cruise, you can see some of the marine animals right from the ship.

When you want to see the wildlife on land, your best option is to sign up with one of the multiple tour groups. Each tour group specializes in certain areas and animals. Therefore, we can discuss what you are interested in seeing, so I can find you the perfect tour group for your Alaskan family vacation.

How to Maximize Wildlife Viewing on an Alaska Cruise?

It is very difficult to not see animals when you are taking an Alaskan cruise. There is always going to be wildlife outside your room’s window and nearby when you are in port.

One of the best ways to maximize your animal viewing on an Alaskan cruise is to go out early or late. The animals are the most active early in the mornings and then again later in the afternoons. Just like us humans, the middle of the day is for napping!

You should also plan your Alaskan cruise for the time of the year when the animals you want to see are in Alaska. I shared many tips above for when you can see the most whales and other animals.

Why a Small Ship = the Best Wildlife Viewing

Yes, you can take both a large ship and a small ship when going on an Alaskan cruise. There are pros and cons to each option. However, in my opinion, a small cruise ship is so much better for viewing wildlife.

When I went on my small Alaskan cruise, we ended up spending hours watching a pod of whales in the water. The captain of our ship was more than happy to go out of our way a little bit to be near the whales. And he wasn’t stressed about not moving at a certain speed to reach our next destination.

This never would have happened if I had booked with a larger cruise line because they have a schedule to keep. I will definitely be doing more small ship cruises in the future for this reason!

Another reason why the smaller ships are better is the fact they can fit into those smaller areas of Alaska. If a lot of seals or puffins are hanging out in a shallow harbor, only a small ship will be able to access that area.

Learn more about small ship and big ship cruising before deciding which option is best for your family vacation.

Join your passion for seeing wildlife with your joy of travel by taking an Alaskan cruise. Your family will be thrilled with the memories you will make. At the same time, you will be happy with all the quality time you get with your kids. After all, you know they are going to be leaving the nest before you are ready, so cherish this time now.

Planning a memorable family vacation where everyone can enjoy themselves can be a challenge. But in 2025, the best destinations for multigenerational travel are making it easier than ever to create unforgettable experiences for the whole family. Today, I am sharing some family friendly vacation destinations with you. These destinations offer sun-soaked beaches, cultural experiences, and outdoor adventures. Basically, something for everyone in your family to enjoy, while creating lifelong memories. Let’s start exploring the top destinations that cater to multigenerational travelers.

Best Destinations for Multigenerational Travel in 2025: Top Family Friendly Getaways

Alaska – Best Destination for Multigenerational Travel in 2025

Best Destinations for Multigenerational Travel in 2025: Top Family Friendly Getaways - Family Near a Glacier in Alaska

One of the best destinations for multigenerational travel in 2025 is Alaska. A vacation in Alaska promises adventures filled with discovery, shared experiences, and lasting memories.

There are quite a few options for how your family experiences this state. You can simply fly to one of the major cities. Or you can cruise to different ports.

If you choose the latter, I recommend small ship cruises. These cruise ships can reach areas where the larger cruise ships can’t reach. Plus, your family will receive more personalized experience options like kayaking near glaciers and guided shore excursions.

Other activities to consider during your family vacation in Alaska include dog sledding, wildlife viewing in Denali and Kenai Fjords National Parks, and guided tours of glaciers.

Another fabulous way to explore Alaska is to take a ride on the Alaska Railroad. This train travels almost five hundred miles throughout the state’s spectacular landscape. Your family can disembark at the numerous stops to participate in activities.

Check out these bucket list destinations in Alaska for your next family vacation.

Galapagos Islands

The Galapagos Islands are a dream destination for many travelers. So, if you are traveling with multiple generations, you might as well choose a dream destination for creating memories!

Once-in-a-lifetime adventures can be experienced during a vacation in the Galapagos Islands. Plus, I can help arrange family friendly and eco-friendly tours for your multigenerational vacation.

Consider a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station to learn about conservation as a family. Island hopping excursions allow everyone to see more of the islands, while exploring diverse ecosystems together.

Of course, you won’t want to skip snorkeling with sea lions and spending time with giant tortoises while on vacation with your family in the Galapagos Islands.

Use my travel guide to the Galapagos Islands for your multigenerational vacation.

Lisbon, Portugal

Best Destinations for Multigenerational Travel in 2025: Top Family Friendly Getaways - Tram 28 in Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon is a city that offers charm, cultural activities, and family friendly activities. Which is why it is one of the best destinations for multigenerational travel in 2025.

I recommend starting with a ride on Tram 28 to check out the city’s neighborhoods. This is an excellent way to learn where restaurants and attractions are located throughout the city. After all, you never know when you will see something interesting to return to later.

The whole family will love spending time at Oceanário de Lisboa. This is one of the largest aquariums in Europe. You should plan on spending at least a few hours there, as you all check out the marine life.

A family friendly Fado show is an excellent way to listen to traditional Portuguese music during your vacation.

Banff, Canada

You won’t need to travel too far from the US to experience one of the best family-friendly vacation destinations in 2025. Banff, Canada offers year-round family fun. And this year, there are more family oriented outdoor activities within Banff National Park.

The entire family will love riding the Banff Gondola. Check out incredible views during your ride. There are also interactive exhibits that will capture everyone’s attention.

Everyone should be able to walk the trails at Johnston Canyon. These are easy scenic walks that are ideal for families.

If you want to see this area of Canada from a different perspective, go canoeing on Lake Louise. No matter what you do during your family vacation in Banff, keep an eye out for bears, elk, and mountain goats. Wildlife is everywhere in this area, so it is almost guaranteed you will see something.

Sydney, Australia

Sydney, Australia is one of the best destinations for multigenerational travel in 2025. Although, you can visit anywhere in this country with your family and have an amazing time.

If you want to start your vacation in Sydney on a more relaxed note, I recommend taking a Sydney Harbour cruise. This is an excellent way to see the city’s sights from a different perspective. Plus, you get to relax after your long flight.

While younger kids may not appreciate the cultural aspects of the Sydney Opera House, you should still take the time for a behind the scenes tour. If a performance is happening during your visit, the grandparents can enjoy it one night. Or the grandparents can watch the kids while the parents attend.

A day at the beach is a must while on a family vacation in Australia. Bondi Beach is one of the best beaches for families. While you can spend the entire day on the sand building sandcastles, there are other options. Consider a coastal walk. Or take the family-friendly surfing lessons that are offered.

Check out these other family friendly activities in Australia for your vacation.

Yellowstone National Park

Family Walking Around the Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park

There are sixty-three national parks to visit in the US. However, Yellowstone National Park is one of the best family friendly vacation destinations. This is because there are plenty of activities your family can do outdoors during your vacation.

I recommend taking one of the wildlife safaris to see bison, elk, and bears. The guides will ensure you don’t miss any of the wildlife that lives within this national park.

The kids will love the engaging activities offered with the junior ranger programs. And parents and grandparents will love learning along with the kids or sharing the knowledge they already have.

Some hikes in Yellowstone National Park may be too difficult for older adults or those with limited mobility. Thankfully, you can drive to sights like the Old Faithful Geyser. You will need to time your visit properly though, or you will miss the eruption of this geyser.

Costa Rica – Unique Best Destination for Multigenerational Travel in 2025

Eco-adventures and nature-filled experiences will bring your family closer during a vacation in Costa Rica. The activity that should be at the top of your list during your family vacation in Costa Rica is visiting Arenal Volcano National Park. You can hike along the trails there before soaking in the natural hot springs.

Depending on the time of year you visit, your family may be able to witness sea turtle nesting in Tortuguero National Park. This unforgettable moment happens between July and October each year. However, peak activity occurs between July and August.

Guided wildlife tours are available in the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Ziplining adventures are another option in this area of Costa Rica.

The kids will beg for time at the beach during your Costa Rica vacation. The beach Manuel Antonio is your best option. The kids can play in the gentle waves, while the adults relax on the sand.

Barcelona, Spain

Is your family searching for diverse activities for your multigenerational vacation in 2025? If you are, I recommend adding Barcelona, Spain to your list of places to visit. Barcelona offers a vibrant mix of architecture, culture, and beachside fun.

Adults can wander around Park Güell to see the whimsical designs of Gaudi. The kids can climb and play during this time, so they won’t be bored as the adults marvel at what they see.

When everyone gets hungry, I recommend going to La Boqueria Market. This market has a lively atmosphere. And you can try many of the local delicacies, which ensures you will no longer be hungry. Oh, and those samples may get your kids to try new foods they wouldn’t try back home.

If your family has the energy to stay out later one night, head over to the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc. The light and water show at this fountain will captivate the attention of everyone in your family.

There will be plenty of time for you to lounge on a beach while on a family vacation in Barcelona. However, the most family friendly beach is Barceloneta Beach. So, you may want to choose to visit that one the most during your vacation.

Check out the best things to do in Barcelona during your multigenerational vacation.

Hawaii

Multigenerational Family on the Beach While on Vacation

All the Hawaiian Islands are perfect for family vacations. However, it is important you decide which Hawaiian Island is perfect for your multigenerational vacation in 2025. I usually recommend Maui and Oahu. But we can discuss which islands will best fit your family’s needs.

Pearl Harbor Memorial is usually one of the favorite attractions for a Hawaiian family vacation. This tour will share many invaluable insights into that historical time.

Interactive experiences showcasing Hawaiian traditions can be seen at the Polynesian Cultural Center. And there is no better way to explore the Molokini Crater than going on a snorkeling adventure.

Surfing is a popular activity in Waikiki, and the rest of Hawaii. Adventurous members of your family will want to take lessons, while the others sit back and watch.

Rome, Italy

Imagine visiting a destination where you can experience the past each day, while enjoying delicious cuisine in between each stop. It is completely possible when you choose to take your multigenerational vacation in Rome, Italy. Plus, this best family friendly vacation destination promises enhanced guided tours and family friendly museums for 2025.

I recommend having me secure your spot for a Colosseum tour while I am planning your multigenerational vacation. This will ensure you can skip the line when you arrive. And you will get to enjoy an interactive tour filled with gladiator stories that will thrill each family member.

I can do the same for Vatican City, so you don’t spend most of your time waiting in line. This will give you more time to admire the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica.

A bike ride through the Villa Borghese Gardens will allow you to see a beautiful spot in the city. I recommend bringing a picnic lunch with you to extend your time in these gardens.

There are plenty of cooking classes you can take while on a family vacation in Rome. If your kids are old enough, you can all take one together to learn how to make fresh pasta.

London, England

Harry Potter fans will love going on vacation to London, England. So, if your kids are hesitant to spend time with you and their grandparents, tell them you are going on a Harry Potter adventure. Their moods will change dramatically. Especially when you have me schedule a Harry Potter Studio Tour for your family.

I can also arrange tours of London, so you can all see Big Ben, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, and Kensington Gardens. Over at the Tower of London, take the interactive tours to ensure history is brought to life for your family.

A day of rest can be experienced in Hyde Park. You can all enjoy a family picnic or go paddle boating.

Orlando, Florida – Popular Best Destination for Multigenerational Travel in 2025

You must have known that Orlando would be on this list of best destinations for multigenerational travel in 2025. After all, it is home to Disney World and Universal Studios.

There are new attractions and activities coming to both these theme parks in 2025. Grandparents will feel nostalgic, as they take the grandkids on the rides they took you on when you were little. Teens will love the thrilling ride options. And you will all stand and wave, as characters walk by during the parades.

Over at Discovery Cove, you can swim with dolphins and snorkel in tropical lagoons. Creating memories will be easy when you take the time to visit with the marine life at Discovery Cove.

There are plenty of nearby attractions to consider when you take a family vacation in Orlando. Kennedy Space Center is one of those attractions. This is an excellent option for anyone who dreams of flying to the moon one day.

Check out these amazing things to do in Orlando during your next multigenerational vacation.

When it comes to planning a memorable vacation that caters to all ages, the best destinations for multigenerational travel in 2025 offer something for everyone. These destinations create opportunities for families to bond, learn, and relax together. Whether your family prefers cultural experiences, outdoor adventures, or simply soaking up the sun on the beach, these family friendly vacation spots ensure every generation has an unforgettable experience. I recommend considering these remarkable destinations to create lasting memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Whether you’re exploring scenic hiking trails, sampling fresh apple cider, or watching glass be hand-blown, you will make unforgettable memories on your family vacation in Vermont. Today, I am sharing the best things to do in Vermont for families. There are a variety of Vermont family vacation ideas that cater to kids and adults. You’ll find plenty of exciting things to do in Vermont with kids. I can personalize your itinerary, so you can create lasting memories right in the heart of this New England state.

Best Things to Do in Vermont for Families

Hike a Trail at Mount Philo State Park – Best Outdoor Thing to Do in Vermont with Family

Best Things to Do in Vermont for Families - Family Hiking Together in Vermont

There are plenty of family friendly hiking trails in Vermont. Over in Charlotte, Vermont, you can hike a looped trail within Mount Philo State Park.

This looped trail is just under two miles in length. It will take your family through the forest to the summit. At the summit, you can see breathtaking panoramic views of the Adirondack Mountains and Lake Champlain.

I recommend taking a picnic lunch with you to enjoy at the summit. It will be a perfect way to spend time together as a family while enjoying the outdoors.

Grab a Drink at The Vermont Brewery

The Vermont Brewery opened in 1988. It is currently the longest running brewery in the state. And it is family friendly, so you won’t need to worry about the kids being bored during this part of your Vermont vacation.

You will find this local brewery in Burlington. I recommend visiting for lunch or dinner. After all, you will want to indulge on their pub food while drinking a pint or two.

They always have eleven types of beer on tap. However, they rotate what is on tap. Therefore, you may not always find your favorite available. But you should be able to find a new favorite every time you visit.

Use my travel guide during your family vacation in Vermont.

Eat Ice Cream at the Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory

Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory is in Waterbury. Your family can take a tour to see how they make their ice cream.

During your tour, you will stand high above the factory floor. This will allow you to look down at the entire ice cream making process.

At the end of your tour, everyone in your family will get a small ice cream cone that contains the flavor of the day.

And yes, this is one of the best things to do in Vermont for families.

See Teddy Bears at the Vermont Teddy Bear Company

A visit to the Teddy Bear Company in Vermont is another popular thing to do while on vacation with family.

A Bear Ambassador will be with you every step of the way during your tour of the Vermont Teddy Bear Company factory. The tour is very informative. And you will be surprised to see how these bears are carefully created by hand.

Before the end of your tour, you will spend a little time in the Bear Hospital. This is where all teddy bears go when they need a little extra TLC.

While you can purchase a bear inside the Bear Shop, you can also create your very own bear. I recommend the later if you truly want to create memories during your time in Vermont.

Drink Apple Cider at Cold Hollow Cider Mill – A Delicious Thing to Do in Vermont with Family

Best Things to Do in Vermont for Families - Cold Hollow Coder Mill in Vermont

There is so much to do at the Cold Hollow Cider Mill in Waterbury Center. I recommend grabbing a bite to eat at the Apple Core Luncheonette and Brew before you begin the rest of your cider adventure.

Then check out the cider press, donut robot, and the honeybee corner. Before you leave, grab all the yummy Vermont products that are for purchase at the store. There are hundreds of items to choose from, so take your time as you are shopping. After all, you won’t want to leave anything behind!

This is the perfect place to purchase honey, cheese, maple syrup, apple cider donuts, and so much more.

Eat Cheese at Cabot Cheese

Over in Cabot, Vermont, you will discover Cabot Cheese. While you can no longer take a tour of their cheesemaking factory, you can watch the process on a television in their store.

Afterwards, wander around testing all types of delicious creamy cheeses and other products with your family. You will have a difficult time deciding what to purchase.

I recommend having a large cooler filled with ice with you because it will be full when you go to return home.

This is one of the best things to do in Vermont for families when everyone needs a little snack in the middle of the afternoon.

Learn about Maple Syrup at Sugarbush Farm, Inc.

You must plan your road trip to Vermont carefully if you want to see all the maple sugaring fun. While the sugaring takes place during the cold winter months, you can still learn quite a bit during a visit to this farm at any time of the year.

I recommend taking the maple walk and the sugarhouse self-tour. They are both exciting things to do in Vermont with kids.

Don’t forget to grab some maple syrup, as well as maple cream and maple cookies before you leave at the end of the day.

Vacationing in Vermont with family during the winter? Check out these incredible ski resorts!

Learn About Glassblowing at Robert Burch Glass

One of the best places to watch a glassblowing demonstration is Robert Burch Glass in southern Vermont. The owner has been blowing glass for more than thirty years now. So, he can answer all your questions easily.

Your family can even take a glassblowing lesson if you have always been interested in learning how to do this craft.

After your demonstration or class, you will want to do a little shopping. This will allow you to go home from your vacation with a few souvenirs to remember all your glassblowing adventures.

Vermont is a treasure trove of family adventures. There are plenty of Vermont family vacation ideas to choose from. I can help you determine the best things to do in Vermont for your family, so you can create lasting memories during your vacation.

Planning a family vacation to Boston? The Freedom Trail in Boston is the perfect way to combine fun and education, giving kids and adults alike a chance to walk in the footsteps of history. This two-and-a-half-mile red brick path winds through the city of Boston. It connects sixteen historic sites on the Freedom Trail for families to explore together. From the iconic Paul Revere House to the towering Bunker Hill Monument, there are plenty of things to see on the Freedom Trail that will bring history to life. These must-see places in Boston will turn your trip into an unforgettable adventure. And the memories you will make along the way will be priceless. So, lace up your walking shoes and get ready for a journey through time!

Freedom Trail in Boston: Explore Must-See Sites During Your Family Vacation

Boston Common – The First Stop on the Freedom Trail in Boston

Freedom Trail in Boston: Explore Must-See Sites During Your Family Vacation - Boston Common on the Freedom Trail

Most tourists like yourself begin their Freedom Trail journey at Boston Common. This is one of the oldest public parks in the country. The park has approximately fifty acres. Centuries ago, this park was a pasture for Puritan settlers. The military then took it over for their use.

Today, you will see families having picnics, people running, and during the winter, ice skating on the pond.

Use my travel guide for Boston to help you before and during your family vacation.

Park Street Church

Park Street Church was built in 1809. “My Country, Tis of Thee” was first sung publicly in this church in 1831. When you arrive at this Freedom Trail site during your family vacation in Boston, point out the two-hundred-seventeen-foot steeple to the kids.

Granary Burying Ground

Old cemeteries hold lots of history. The Granary Burying Ground dates back to 1660. Numerous notable people are buried here. The most famous people include Paul Revere, John Hancock, and Samuel Adams.

As you wander around, have your kids point out the oldest headstones. Or have them point out all the people they learned about in history class in school.

Old Corner Bookstore – Unique Stop on the Freedom Trail in Boston

A family vacation isn’t a family vacation until you have spent time inside a bookstore! Thankfully, the Old Corner Bookstore on the Freedom Trail in Boston isn’t any ordinary bookstore.

Nope! This building was constructed in 1718. And it was used by a Boston publishing company in the 19th century. In fact, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Harriet Beecher Stowe both had books published by this company.

I recommend wandering through this building, searching for historical items. And of course, making a purchase or two before you leave.

Check out these other bookstores to visit during family vacations.

Old State House

The Old State House was constructed in 1713. It was where the colonial government met many years ago. It was also where those in government witnessed the infamous Boston Massacre in 1770.

I recommend going inside to explore the interactive exhibits. Your family can also stand on the balcony. It is on that balcony where the Declaration of Independence was first read in Boston.

Faneuil Hall Marketplace – A Popular Stop on the Freedom Trail in Boston

Freedom Trail in Boston: Explore Must-See Sites During Your Family Vacation - Faneuil Hall on the Freedom Trail in Boston

The Faneuil Hall Marketplace has been a part of Boston’s history since 1742. At that time, merchants and fishermen sold items to the locals. However, it wasn’t long before prominent people like George Washington and Samuel Adams used this area to give inspirational speeches.

This marketplace received major renovations back in the 1970s and it looks slightly different nowadays. Currently, there are approximately eighty shops, restaurants, and pubs at Faneuil Hall. And yet, your family can still see, and imagine, the history that took place at this site on the Freedom Trail in Boston.

Old North Church

April 18, 1775, was an important night in Boston’s history. This church was where Robert Newman signaled to the locals that the British were approaching.

The Old North Church is the oldest church in the city. You can see the family names from years ago on the private benches.

I recommend climbing the steps to the top of the tower to see the panoramic views of the city. Feel free to say, “one if by land, two if by sea”, while at the top to reenact history.

There is a museum tucked away into the gift shop next door. So, make sure you check that out before you continue along the Freedom Trail during your family vacation.

Paul Revere House

Freedom Trail in Boston: Explore Must-See Sites During Your Family Vacation - Paul Revere House on the Freedom Trail in Boston

Everyone knows the important role Paul Revere played when the British were arriving to attack. However, not many people have seen his home.

Paul Revere’s home was built in 1680. He lived in that home from 1770 through 1800. It is the oldest home in the city.

You can tour his home during your family vacation in Boston. Inside, you will see the original furniture, as well as some of the silver he produced.

Bunker Hill Monument

You can see the Bunker Hill Monument well before you reach it, as you are walking along the Freedom Trail in Boston. This shouldn’t be surprising since it towers over the city.

If your children are old enough, I recommend climbing the two-hundred-ninety-four steps to the top of the monument. You should also take a selfie once you reach the top to commemorate your efforts. And to remember how you managed to persuade your kids to keep going.

Check out the best bars in Boston (and yes, Cheers is on the list!)

USS Constitution and Museum – The Last Stop on the Freedom Trail in Boston

The USS Constitution is known as Old Ironsides. It is the oldest warship still in the water today.

She first set sail on July 22, 1798. Her final voyage was July 21, 1997. The USS Constitution is currently a museum, so board the ship with your family for a tour. The tours occur every half hour. Your tour guide will be dressed in clothes from the Revolutionary War.

Exploring the Freedom Trail in Boston is more than just a walk through history. It’s a chance for families to step back in time and experience the stories that shaped the US. Every stop along the Freedom Trail offers an opportunity to spark curiosity and conversation. Unforgettable adventures are waiting your family at these must-see places in Boston, as well as many others. And I can help you see the destinations you want to see the most by creating a personalized itinerary for your family vacation in Boston.

Family adventures come in many shapes and sizes. I love planning vacations that are unique to each family. If your family loves the great outdoors and seeing wildlife in their natural surroundings, I recommend you consider a Grand Teton National Park vacation. That is where you will find the excitement and experiences your family is looking for. One of those experiences is the Grand Teton Winter Safari. Today, I am sharing a little information about the Grand Teton Winter Safari, so you can see if this magical experience is perfect for your next family vacation.

Grand Teton Winter Safari: An Amazing Family Adventure

Winter Safari Options

Grand Teton Winter Safari: An Amazing Family Adventure - Moose During Winter in Grand Teton National Park

A Grand Teton Winter Safari tour can be a half-day or a full day. I prefer the full-day tour option, because it allows you to really immerse yourself in the local environment.

However, if your family vacation time is limited, a half-day is still going to give you the memories you are searching for.

A full-day Grand Teton winter safari will begin with breakfast. Afterward, you will venture into Grand Teton National Park, as well as the National Elk Refuge. So many animals live within these two areas. Imagine seeing elk, bison, moose, deer, wolves, big horn sheep, and bald eagles in their natural habitat.

Lunch is provided at a local restaurant. After your meal, your time will be spent either back in the park or at the National Museum of Wildlife Art.

Before your winter safari is over, you will take a sleigh ride through the National Elk Refuge.

Check out these other adventures your family can have inside Grand Teton National Park.

When it the Grand Teton Winter Safari?

Grand Teton Winter Safari: An Amazing Family Adventure - Winter Fun in Grand Teton National Park

Your family can enjoy the Grand Teton Winter Safari from November through April. The sleigh rides do not usually begin until December. They are all dependent on the weather and the amount of snowfall.

The best part about these winter safaris is that they are always small. There are no more than eight people within the group. So, there is a chance your family will be the only ones participating when you are visiting.

Other safari destinations right here in the US you should consider for your next family vacation.

It is important to note everyone in your group must be at least eight years of age to participate in the Grand Teton Winter Safari. There is no age limit for private winter safaris. Therefore, those will be the best option if you are traveling with smaller children.

The Grand Teton winter safari is just one of the many options in this part of the country. But do not feel like you are limited to this one thing while on a family vacation. I have so many other options to add to your next Grand Teton National Park vacation, as well as every other family vacation you want to take in the future.
