If you have read any of my blog posts, or seen my social media posts, over the years, you may remember that I served in the Air Force. It was one of my careers prior to becoming a travel advisor. In fact, the travel I did throughout my Air Force career is what I believe led me in the direction of becoming a travel advisor. The Air Force was a huge part of my life. And that is why we should all celebrate since it is the Air Force’s birthday!
The Air Force wasn’t always a separate military service. Instead, it was part of many different organizations until it became the Air Force we know today. Those organizations included:
Yes, this division of the military finally became the Air Force on September 18, 1947! So, let’s celebrate the Air Force’s birthday!
As you probably already know, the Air Force is the youngest of all five military services. Yet, they play a huge role within all five branches of the military.
The Air Force focuses on aerospace superiority, information superiority, and global attack. They tackle all this through control and exploitation of air and space. While quite a few people in the Air Force are focused on flying missions, there are many others that work on the ground. Those people focus on support and technical issues.
A few famous people served in the Air Force. Although, they shouldn’t overshadow everyone who has served in any branch of the military.

I am proud to say that I served in the Air Force. I met my husband while serving. And now, one of my daughters is serving in the Air Force. So, you can say we are an Air Force family. And a military family, since one of my sons is serving in the Marines.
Let’s celebrate the Air Force’s birthday together today and remember everyone who has served within all the different organizations over the years.
