Do you have a dream destination you want to visit? I’m sure you said yes, because almost everyone does! Alaska, the land of the midnight sun, was a destination I had wanted to see for so long. And I’ve now vacationed in Alaska more than once, because it is simply an incredible destination. It is also one of the family vacation destinations I recommend quite often. Especially since there are quite a few family-friendly activities you can do while visiting. Today, I am sharing some of the activities we did while visiting the land of the midnight sun.

The Land of the Midnight Sun – An Amazing Family Vacation Idea

When I think back to the moments during our Alaskan vacation that just took my breath away. Those are the stories I share with clients and friends. The stories that light me up the most are the ones I want to share with you here.

So, grab a glass of wine, a cup of hot chocolate, or whatever makes you smile. And join me as I share a few stories and pictures from my trip.

Let me start by saying I went into this trip with one mission, I was going to go big or go home. This was an adventure. And the plan was to lean in as far as I could. Little did I know just how far that lean would take me.

An amazing 8-day Alaskan vacation for families.

Hiking on an Old Logging Road

Our captain who, we will talk about coming up, was also interested in logging. So, he had made some amazing contacts with a local logger.

One day, as we were sailing near a small islet, the captain pulled into the logger’s dock. And we were able to get off to explore.

We were in small groups of only about 10 people. Each with a member of the crew who was there to share knowledge with us. We hiked up an old logging road until we came to a field in the clearing. The guide was showing us the different flowers that were blooming there. And why they were growing in that area.

All of a sudden, one of the guests let out a squeak. We all looked up. Over by the tree line, along the edge of the field, was a grizzly bear. We were in awe. The bear then got up on his hind legs and the stare down began.

Okay, he stared. We scrambled for cameras. The guide told us to be quiet, not say a word. The silence was deafening. Well, it would have been, had it not been for the clicking of the camera lenses.

After a few moments, the bear dropped back down to four legs and sauntered away into the bushes. The guide radioed to the other groups behind us to be on the watch. And to make as much noise as possible, so they didn’t startle the bear. Safety was always their first priority. But the most amazing experiences of nature ran a close second.

I will never forget the day we got to stand face to face (okay, yes, with a field between) with a grizzly bear in the land of the midnight sun.

Get closer to bears in Homer Alaska.

Polar Plunge

It’s just as it sounds. We plunged into those polar temperature waters in the land of the midnight sun on purpose.

This is something they offer of the sailings in Alaska. You get an opportunity to jump right off the back of the ship, while it’s anchored, of course.

It started mostly as a challenge from my daughter. She was going to do it, and there was no way I could chicken out. I wasn’t about to let her hold that over me. So, if she was doing then so was I!

The water was about 40 degrees and at some point, the realities of what I was doing set in. Unfortunately, it was just a split second before I hit the water. At that moment I sent up a prayer, “Dear God, please don’t let me have a heart attack when I hit the water”.

Thank heavens for the answered prayers. I survived. Not to say the air didn’t instantly suck out of my lungs the second I hit the water. But they had warned me that the cold water would be a shock to the system.

This was the one moment above all else on this trip where I was faced with whether or not I was truly committed to going big or going home. I highly recommend the going big route!

Check out these family bucket list destinations in Alaska!

A Kiss for Good Luck in the Land of the Midnight Sun

At least that’s what they told Caitlynne. According to the guides, kissing a banana slug is supposed to bring you good luck.

I’m not entirely sure if Caitlynne believed it or not. But we were in the land of the midnight sun. So, she did it. But the video didn’t capture it the first time, so she had to do it a second time. Oops!

When I think of traveling with my teens, it’s people like the cruise director and guides that can make a trip a vacation of a lifetime. The guides were so awesome. They weren’t stuffy or boring. In fact, they seemed to know exactly what to say to inspire the teens to participate – by choice.

The guides seemed to speak their language to keep them engaged and entertained. So much so, my daughter hardly ever noticed that she didn’t have a Wi-Fi signal. I swear that it takes a very special person to make that happen. Especially during a family vacation.

Our Captain

Our Captain had to be the most surprising element of our adventure. Typically, on most cruise ships, you only ever see the captain when he does his celebrity tour through the foyer for the photos with the captain evening.

That wasn’t the case on this ship. The captain had such energy of being a family man. It was as if the crew were all his family. And best of all, we were being hosted by him and his family in their home. Although, their home was a small ship in the land of the midnight sun.

If the ship was docked, it wasn’t uncommon to see the captain driving a skiff with passengers. Or offering a hand to help you on and off the ship. I think my admiration of the captain was strongest when you would come back on board the ship and find him playing cards with his crew. Laughing together. Smiling. And enjoying their time together.

I adored that the captain was an EVERYBODY person. That he wasn’t too big for his britches. Yet at the same time, seemed to be constantly wanting to ensure we were safe at all times and having a great vacation. There is nothing more comforting than to feel like you are a guest in someone’s home.

playing cards

Bubbles from Beneath the Ship

One of the truly unique experiences we had (among so many others) was our ability to just shut off the engines and wait. We could stay in one place and watch nature unfold.

We were sitting inside of an inlet, the engines cut, watching over the sides. The bubbles were forming in the water beside us. Bubbling their way to the surface. This was the whales bubbling the fish into a circle so that they could come up and swallow as many as they could force into one area. It was exciting to see those bubbles forming, because we knew the whales would be breaching soon.

The guides shared with us as well, that when you see a flock of birds circling out over the water, the whales will be coming up soon. The birds circle above the bubbles waiting for the whales to come to the surface. Then the birds go in and capture the fish that the whales didn’t swallow. I wonder if that’s a bird’s version of hunting fish in a barrel?

The one thing I haven’t yet mentioned about UNcruise, that I feel is their number one differentiator, is that they go where no one else does. The ports or stops we made; you’re simply not going to find other ships. They provide a truly authentic experience where you will connect with nature in ways you simply can’t do with other cruise lines. It really is the UN cruise way to explore by cruising.

Big ship or small ship? Which is best for your Alaskan family vacation?

Bonus Adventure in the Land of the Midnight Sun

When we were in Alaska, we did my newest favorite thing to do while on vacation. We hired a local photographer to take us around the area and explore. She took us to her favorite spots (locals know the best spots) and took our photos. In many destinations, the photographer is usually with you for about 60-90 minutes. But this photographer was sensational and took us around for hours. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would get that close to a bald eagle, much less have someone else capture the moment.

If you would like to follow in my footsteps or blaze your own trail in the land of the midnight sun, it is time to plan your own family adventure!

So, are you ready to have me create a personalized family vacation itinerary for your next family trip to the land of the midnight sun?

A family cruise is always at the top of my list of recommendations when my clients are looking for the following:

  • Fun for the Whole Family Vacation
  • Lots of Activities for the Kids
  • Relaxation Time for Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, and Other Extended Family Members

Cruises are an excellent way for families to see the world. Plus, everyone will have a ton of fun along the way. Today’s cruise ships have become a destination unto themselves, yet they take you to some pretty exciting and scenic locations.

There are so many fantastic family friendly cruise ships and itineraries out there that it can be hard to pick just the right one! Today, I am sharing everything you need to know while choosing a family cruise everyone will love.

Family Cruise: Choosing One Everyone Will Love

Get the Kids Involved in the Planning

I recommend finding out what your kids feel is the most important part of a family cruise vacation. What’s more important to them?  The activities on the ship or the family friendly adventures they can have in port? Are there specific things they want to experience or are looking forward to? There is something for everyone but knowing where everyone’s priorities lie will help you sort through the options.

Check out my favorite European cruise lines

Does the Size of the Ship Matter for Your Family Cruise?

Choosing a Family Cruise Everyone Will Love - Cruise Ship

When it comes to choosing the right cruise ship for your family, size does indeed matter. Smaller cruise ships feel more intimate, and your family may have an easier time finding your way around on board. Plus, you will have more interaction with the crew as well.

With that being said, the larger “mega ships” have more activities for everyone to take part in and more dining options to satisfy everyone’s tastes. The larger ships also have a more extensive kids’ program for the younger kids in the family.

Considering an Alaskan cruise? Choosing between a small ship and big ship for this family friendly adventure

Short Trip or Longer Escape for Your Family Cruise?

Whether you are looking for a long weekend or a two-week holiday, there are family cruise options to fit the bill. Consider the amount of time you have for your family vacation.

Longer cruises allow for more sea days in addition to your days in port. However, don’t underestimate the importance of having some time to explore and enjoy your cruise ship. Sea days often provide the relaxation you are hoping to get from your family vacation.

How Important are the Dining Options?

For many of my clients, dining is a huge part of their family cruise vacation! Cruise lines vary widely in their approach to dining. From cuisine to atmosphere, the options are endless.

Do you want traditional cruise dining with an assigned dining time, dining room and table where you get to know your waitstaff and table mates? Or would you prefer a system with multiple dining options where things operate more like a restaurant where you can either make a reservation or show up when you are ready to eat and wait for the first available table?

Do you want a ship where all of the dining options are included in the price of your family cruise, or do you want the opportunity to pay a nominal fee for specialty or premium restaurants on board (free dining options are always available)?

I recommend choosing your dining options carefully and consider what your family likes to eat. Or you may find yourself spending more time fighting with picky eaters instead of enjoying all your meals.

Cruise from Burgundy to Provence and taste amazing cuisine along the way.

What Type of Accommodations Do You Want?

A cruise ship may feel like a floating hotel, but the type of rooms available are much less flexible. Many staterooms are only set up to accommodate 2 or 3 people with a limited number of rooms designed for 4. Families of 5 are even more limited in their choices. While some ships have a handful of larger rooms for groups of 5, others do not have options for more than 4 people.

Are you looking for rooms that connect with a door between them? Those can be limited as well. I recommend booking early to make sure you can get connecting rooms.

Also, stateroom considerations go far beyond just occupancy. How important is the view outside your room? Are you okay with sacrificing a view at all for your family cruise?

For some families, the ability to relax on your balcony while you have breakfast is non-negotiable. For others, an inside stateroom with no window at all is perfectly fine.

And where do you want to be on the ship for your family cruise? Is proximity to the “action” like the dining rooms, kid’s clubs, and other activities important to you? Is anyone in your party susceptible to sea sickness? If you said yes to any of these questions, your cabin location becomes very important.

Top Tip: Get Help from an Expert!

An expert travel advisor knows the right questions to ask to match your family to the perfect cruise ship and itinerary. They will guide you through the process of selecting a stateroom that meets all of your needs and expectations. Plus, they will assist you with planning activities and shore excursions that will be fun for all members of your travel party.

Travel professionals often have access to special pricing or amenities that are not available to the general public. I can advise you on your best options for everything from pre or post cruise hotel options to travel insurance and shore excursions.

You could spend hours and hours researching every possible choice for your cruise, or you can contact an expert. If you do the latter, you can then sit back and relax as you watch your perfect vacation come together almost effortlessly!

One of the best ways to see France is via an epic cruise. This travel option will have your family seeing multiple sights along the Rhone and Saone Rivers. This unique family vacation will allow you to make memories you wouldn’t be able to anywhere else in the world. Today, I am sharing an itinerary of an epic cruise that will take your family from Burgundy to Provence. You don’t need to choose the exact same itinerary for your cruise. As I am planning your epic cruise, I can personalize your itinerary, so everyone in your family gets to do their favorite things while on vacation.

Read all about why river cruising is so much better than an ocean cruise

Take an Epic Cruise from Burgundy to Provence with Your Amazing Family

Day One: Chalon-Sur-Saone

Depending on when your flight arrives, you may have time for a little sightseeing before boarding the ship for your river cruise. After unpacking in your cabin, you can wander around the ship and enjoy a delicious dinner.

Day Two: Tournus

Overnight, the ship will have sailed to Tournus. It will arrive in port while you are still sleeping. Be prepared to be in a new destination already when you wake up in the morning.

After a hearty breakfast, you will head out into town with your local tour guide. They will show you the sights throughout town before returning you to the ship. However, I recommend taking the time to also visit the Castle of Cormatin or enjoy a wine tasting in a Chardonnay wine cellar before getting back on board.

Day Three: Lyon

Take an Epic Cruise from Burgundy to Provence with Your Amazing Family - View of Lyon France from Fourviere

You will arrive in Lyon after breakfast on day three of your epic cruise with family. Use this downtime to relax a little.

When you arrive in Lyon, you will have a choice of either a bike ride along the banks of the Rhone and Saone Rivers or a visit to Fourviere Hill. The latter will have you exploring Old Town, as well as the fountain of Places des Terreaux.

Day Four: Lyon

You will stay in Lyon for part of another day during your epic cruise. Spend the day exploring on your own. Or join a culinary walking tour to try some of the local cuisine.

The ship will leave port early in the evening to sail to your next destination. Spend this time enjoying the activities on the ship.

Day Five: Tournon and Viviers

You will spend the morning in Tournon. Spend this time taking a guided walking tour to see the best sights in this medieval city.

After a leisurely lunch, the ship will sail to Viviers where you can also take a guided walking tour. Live entertainment will be available back on the ship after dinner.

Day Six: Avignon

You have a few options for your time in Avignon. A guided tour will take you to the Palace of the Popes. Or you can visit the Roman aqueduct of Pont du Gard or the wine cellars of Chateauneuf-du-Pape for a wine tasting.

Another option is to simply explore this area on your own. You can visit a museum or watch a show at the theater.

Day Seven: Arles

You will be in Arles in the morning, which means another walking tour. If you decide not to walk another step, you can always participate in a painting workshop. This workshop will teach you how to paint like Vincent van Gogh.

No matter what you do, I recommend stopping in Le Café van Gogh for a glass of wine before heading back to the ship.

Day Eight: Arles

Your ship will still be in Arles when you wake up on the last day of your epic cruise with family. You will have traveled from Burgundy to Provence over the last few days, making memories you will cherish forever.

There are so many other river cruises available in France and the rest of Europe. I can help you plan one that will have your family excited to be traveling together. Here’s my guide to the best European cruise lines to get you started, as you consider this type of family vacation.

So, are you ready to have me create a personalized itinerary for your epic cruise?

Have you always wanted to explore different countries? Do you dislike the thought of changing hotel rooms every night or two and dealing with transportation between numerous cities though? Well, when it comes to taking a vacation in Norway, the easiest way to see the entire country is via a cruise! Your family will love all the experiences you can have together, as you sail from the southern tip of Norway all the way to the Arctic Circle. Imagine all the memories you will make during an amazing vacation in Norway! Today, I am sharing a sample itinerary of what is possible during this incredible adventure. However, when I personalize your family’s itinerary, it may look completely different. This is because it will be full of the best things you want to do while on a family vacation in Norway.

Experience an Amazing Vacation in Norway Via a Cruise with Family in 14 Days

Day One: Hamburg, Germany

Okay, so I know this is supposed to be a family vacation in Norway itinerary. But every cruise ship needs to start its journey somewhere. And this one begins in Hamburg!

So, you will fly to Hamburg and then board your ship at the port. Today will be all about getting settled in your room. As well as learning where everything is on the ship. A trip to the spa may be in order for the ultimate in relaxation. Let me know if you are interested in this and I will make it happen!

Day Two: Day at Sea

There will be plenty of activities available for your family during this day at sea. Take advantage of this time to start making those memories that matter.

Day Three: City of Seven Mountains

Experience an Amazing Vacation in Norway via a Cruise with Family in 14 Days - Mount Floyen Views in Bergen, Norway

The City of Seven Mountains is officially Bergen. Your family will get to spend most of your day there. If you are up early enough, you can be out on the deck as you leave the North Sea and enter the straits and fjords of Norway.

And if you aren’t, no worries! There are so many other spectacular things you will see during this Norwegian adventure!

After your family arrives in port, you will take the bus to the Fløibanen funicular. It will take you to the top of Mount Fløyen in approximately six minutes. Enjoy the views of the city from above.

When you are back at the base of the mountain, take the time to explore the Bryggen District.

Day Four: Loen

The beginning part of this day will have your family marveling at how easily the ship goes through the straits and channels in Norway. When you reach Loen, you will disembark the ship for a few hours of exploring.

Day Five: Day at Sea

You are getting closer to the Arctic Circle on day five of your amazing vacation in Norway via a cruise with family. Today will be spent at sea. However, I recommend taking time to gaze at the scenery from the deck in between dips in the hot tub.

A few things you will see along the way include the Torghatten Mountains, islands in Strandflaten, and more of the Seven Sisters Mountains.

This is the day when you will all want to stay up later in the evening. Being so close to the Arctic Circle means you will have a better chance of catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

Day Six: Lofoten Islands

You will officially be in the Arctic Circle early in the morning of day six of your vacation cruise in Norway. You will pass by these islands until you reach Svolvær. This is the largest town in the Lofoten Islands.

Many of the residents still work within the fishing industry here. You will see wooden racks lining the shoreline in this town. Those racks are used for drying locally caught cod.

Spend your time in port talking to the locals, as you shop in the stores. There are also a couple of art galleries you can peruse. You never know where you will discover an incredible work of art!

Day Seven: The City of Northern Lights

The City of Northern Lights is more commonly called Alta. It is one of the northernmost towns in the entire world. Alta is located in Finnmark County. It is above the Arctic Circle at seventy degrees north.

Bundle up as you disembark the ship for your adventure. First, stop at the Northern Lights Cathedral to learn about these dancing lights. You may then have a chance to go dog sledding, or at least meet a few sled dogs.

The main attraction of the day though will be the Northern Lights. Hopefully the weather will cooperate, so your family can experience this magical event so far north. It will be a late night, but it will be well worth staying up past your bedtime!

Day Eight: Honningvag

One of the northernmost points in Europe is Honningvag. This is a small town. Your family will want to walk along the harbor. And check out some of the local restaurants before choosing one to dine at for lunch.

Today is the day the ship will turn around to head back towards Hamburg. Relish your time in the north, because it may be a while before you return.

Day Nine: Tromsø

Experience an Amazing Vacation in Norway via a Cruise with Family in 14 Days - Humpback Whale Breaching

Tromsø is the capital of the Arctic. Before you arrive in this capital city though, your family may have the chance to see humpback whales out in the water. Check them out from the deck. Have your video cameras ready to capture the big moment if they jump!

Once in port, head over to the Arctic Cathedral. Do a little souvenir shopping. And learn about the history of this area.

Oh, and if you want to visit a brewery, you can here. Mack Bryggeri is the northernmost brewery in the world. Definitely worth a visit to try a pint or two!

Day Ten: Reine

You will arrive early at the island of Reine. This is a fishing village that is located within the Lofoten Islands. The local museum will teach you all you ever wanted to know about the fishing industry over the years.

Day Eleven: Surprise Visit!

Knowing where you are headed every minute of the day can be quite boring. To make your amazing vacation in Norway via a cruise with family a little more exciting, the captain of the ship will decide where you are visiting today at the last minute!

Be ready for any type of excursion and enjoy the fact that surprises can be exactly what your family needs to make a few extra memories on this vacation.

Day Twelve: Alesund

Hopefully you enjoyed every minute of your surprise visit yesterday! Today, you are back to the regular schedule with time in Alesund. Wander along the cobblestone streets, as you check out the colorful buildings, towers, and spires. I recommend looking closely at many of the buildings. If you do, you will spot stone statues carved into them.

Leave time to visit the Atlantic Sea Park. This is where you will find a penguin park, as well as a seal pool. Over at Otter Island, you will see three otters. If you call their names, Pia, Muffe, and Nusse, they will respond to you.

Day Thirteen: Sunndal or Rosendal

You are very close to the southern end of Norway once again. During today’s adventure, you will find yourselves in Hardangerfjord. This is the last fjord you will see during your family vacation in Norway.

Your destination for the day will be chosen according to the weather. The options are Sunndal and Rosendal. Both small villages are full of adventures. In Sunndal, your family can go kayaking or hiking. In Rosendal, your day will be spent learning about the Folgefonna Glacier at the visitor center.

Day Fourteen: Day at Sea Towards Hamburg

Today is the last day of your amazing vacation in Norway via a cruise with family. It will be a day filled with emotions. You will want to do all your favorite activities on the ship. Eat your favorite foods. And begrudgingly pack for your flight home.

By the time you go to bed tonight, you will need to accept the fact that the ship will be in Hamburg when you wake up in the morning. Your family will need to leave the ship one last time, as you head to the airport.

Thankfully, you will have all the memories from this family trip to Norway to remember forever!

As you can see, there are so many things you can do and see during a family vacation in Norway. Cruising up and down this country is one of the best ways to see it. Especially since you get to see some of the smaller villages and towns along the way. Hopefully, you can see what is possible if you decide to make this journey with your family during a magical vacation.

Are you ready to start cruising the Caribbean with your family? Do you want to make memories that matter while seeing some of the most beautiful islands in the world? Well, I have discovered some of the best islands in the Caribbean. Each one is worthy of family vacations. And they all have plenty of things to do when you are off the ship and on the island. Today, I am going to share the best islands to visit when you are cruising the Caribbean.

Cruising the Caribbean? Check Out These Best Islands

Aruba

Almost everyone I know wants to spend a few days on the island of Aruba. And who can blame them for wanting to be in paradise!

Time in Aruba can be spent relaxing on the sand, participating in water sports, or mingling with new friends at a beach bar. Visit Oranjestad for cheese tasting adventures. Head to the Butterfly Farm to see a tropical jungle. And go kitesurfing in Boca Grandi if you are searching for a few thrills.

There is no limit to what you can do in Aruba while cruising the Caribbean.

British Virgin Islands

It is all about the culture, nature, and laid-back vibes in the British Virgin Islands. There are four main islands, as well as approximately sixty smaller islands for you to visit there.

The best time to visit these islands is outside of hurricane season. If you plan your trip right, you can avoid the storms and enjoy the island activities. Some of those activities include walking through the rainforests, snorkeling near coral reefs, and sailing out on the crystal-clear water.

Antigua and Barbuda

Cruising the Caribbean? Check Out These Best Islands - Pink Sand Beach in Barbuda

These two islands are known for their sparkling white beaches, as well as lush rainforests. A stop in St. John’s Port is exactly what you will need when cruising the Caribbean. As soon as you step off the ship, you will be ready to explore all the sights.

On Antigua, a visit to Nelson’s Dockyard is a must. And yet, on Barbuda, it is all about the tiny pink seashells on Pink Sand Beach and the drinks at John’s Beach Bar. There are many other beaches you can visit while in Antigua and Barbuda too!

You won’t need to spend all your time near the shoreline either. Your family can make memories while caving and hiking on the northern shore of Barbuda.

Saint Barthelemy

Saint Barthelemy is mainly known as St. Barts to many travelers. This is one of the smaller Caribbean Islands. There is still plenty to do on the island. Plus, the best part is you can really get to know the locals during your visit.

Oh, and you may run into a celebrity or two during your visit. They love spending time on this Caribbean Island.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

The main island of Saint Vincent is the main draw in this part of the Caribbean. However, you may want to consider heading out to one of the nine inhabited islands nearby.

One of the favorite things to do on this Caribbean Island is sailing around Admiralty Bay. During that sailing adventure, you can stop at Bequia Island to visit the turtle sanctuary. If your family wants to snorkel, I recommend a trip to Tobago Cays. You can see lots of marine life near the reef there.

These are the best islands to check out while cruising the Caribbean. You can easily visit them, as well as many of the other Caribbean Islands during a family cruise. Simply let me know where your family wants to go, and I will personalize your family trip itinerary during a cruise that visits those destinations.

So, are you ready to have me create a personalized family vacation itinerary for one of these islands or another destination?

If you said yes, I would like to invite you to click here to schedule a personalized family vacation planning session with me. When you click on the link, you will be taken to my digital calendar to schedule a time that is convenient for you.

Popular cruise options for family vacations include the Caribbean and Mediterranean. However, there are plenty of other destinations when it comes to cruising with the family. There are even a few remote destinations that may pique the interest of your family. Today, I am sharing a few remote destinations you should consider when you want to cruise during a family vacation.

Consider a Cruise to a Remote Destination

Papua New Guinea

New Guinea is an area filled with islands. The main island is Papua. You can easily explore that large island during a family vacation. However, if you want to experience the authentic parts of New Guinea, you need to visit the other islands. The best way to do that is during a cruise. Most of the cruises in New Guinea stop at seven or eight ports of call. That’s a lot of islands to see during a family vacation!

The best part of this cruise to a remote destination is you will see islands many other travelers have never seen. This is due to the fact that the only people who visit these islands are those that are on cruise ships.

South Georgia

South Georgia is a remote island in the southern Atlantic Ocean. There is no landing strip on this island. Therefore, the only way anyone can get there is via boat. If you choose to cruise to this remote destination, you will be greeted by the largest colony of penguins in the entire world. There are other animals living on the island. But no people. If you are looking for solitude, you will definitely find it on this island.

This is one of the remote destinations you can visit during a cruise to the Falklands, as well as Antarctica.

Faroe Islands

Cruise to a Remote Destination - Faroe Islands

Up in the northern Atlantic Ocean, you can head off the beaten path by taking a cruise to the Faroe Islands. The islands are part of Denmark. These volcanic islands have been around since at least the 8th century.

It can be cold on the Faroe Islands all year long. Layers will be needed if you want to explore.

The North Pole

Another colder part of the world is the North Pole. Taking a cruise to the North Pole is one of the best ways to see the Arctic. This can be one of the more extreme adventures. It is important to be prepared for the journey with warm clothes and an “I can do” attitude.

A couple of the activities you can do during a cruise to the North Pole include a hot air balloon ride, a helicopter tour, and a polar plunge.

Easter Island

Easter Island is one of the most remote destinations in the world. You will find this island a couple of thousand miles off the mainland of Chile. On this island, you will find a site called Moai. It is where massive stone statues are located. No one has any idea what the significance of those statues is or when they were put in place.

These are the remote destinations you should consider when you want to cruise during a family vacation. Yes, your cruise will take you far away from the crowds and popular destinations. However, it won’t be an experience you will ever regret. Especially since you will be making a ton of memories with your family throughout the entire trip.  Oh, and if you aren’t ready to cruise to remote destinations, check out the other unique cruise destinations for family vacations
